  • Interpreting Clairvoyant Images

    Interpreting Clairvoyant Images

In the past, I have had a fair few questions from my Intuitive Awakening Course students which relate to interpreting clairvoyant images.

Clairvoyance is when you receive intuitive information visually. It can be in your mind’s eye (the ‘movie screen’ in your mind that you see when you close your eyes) or it can be with your bare eyes.

A clairvoyant image could be a metaphor or scene that you see playing out, a symbol of some sort or colours and shapes.

    The Problem with Clairvoyance

Obviously clairvoyance can’t be used on its own. It needs to be used with clairaudience (where you hear a message) or claircognizance (where you get a spontaneous ‘download’ of information or ‘just know’ something.)

Ideally, when you see an image clairvoyantly, it is accompanied by a message through one of those two other clairs. Usually you will hear or know something that tells you what the image means.

If you received a clairvoyant image but it wasn’t accompanied by an interpretation, there are two possible reasons why:

    1. It doesn’t mean anything that’s relevant to your life

    2. You need to do a bit of interpreting

In my experience as an intuitive and a teacher of psychic development, the most common scenario is the first one.

But Why Do We See Things if They Mean Nothing for Us?

Bear in mind that sometimes when you see images clairvoyantly, it may simply mean that your third eye chakra is very active or overactive.  Perhaps you have done some work on opening up your clairvoyance or you have worked on seeing auras. When you do work like this, it opens up your third eye and you might start seeing things move in the corner of your eye. Sometimes people start seeing colours, around people or just in front of them. This is a by-product of working on your clairvoyance – it gets switched on. But not everything you see is meaningful.

Just like your dreams – not all of those are meaningful either.

    When It Does Mean Something

If you feel that the image you saw is meaningful, but you’ve still no idea what it means, try the following exercise:

    1. Say out loud: ‘my higher self’

    2. Take four deep, long breaths

    3. Using your inner voice (the voice inside your mind), ask what the image meant

    4. If nothing comes to you straight away, meditate for one minute, keeping the question in mind

Information can come as a feeling, a spontaneous ‘download’ of information into your mind, a word that comes into your head or a string of words spoken.

If you still get nothing, leave the question with your higher self for a while and trust that if there is some information you’re meant to have, it’ll come to you in some other way.

If we spend too much time obsessing over meaning, it can keep us stuck. Not everything in dreams has a meaning and not everything in life has a meaning!

If you still don’t know what your clairvoyant image means upon meditating on it, you could consult a dream dictionary for clues regarding the symbolism. In my opinion, this is less meaningful, since everyone has their own inner symbolism. For example, if you look at the two images below, you will have an internal response to them that is uniquely yours, depending on your background, culture, values, belief system, personal likes and dislikes and past experiences.

For example, the cross may be a symbol of redemption. It may be a much loved symbol for you if you are a Christian. But if you have had bad experiences with religion, it may be a negative symbol that has nothing to do with redemption.

If you are a cat lover or if you have a black cat, you may have a positive response to the picture of the cat above. If you are superstitious, you may not.

There is no universal symbolism for the whole of humanity — your clairvoyant images have to be interpreted using your own inner symbolism that has been created through your own experiences in your life.

  • Binaural Beats MP3 for Improving Extra-Sensory Perception – Review

Binaural Beats MP3 for Improving Extra-Sensory Perception – Review

Are you looking for an inexpensive product that will help you with your intuitive development? (& one that doesn’t involve much of a time commitment!?)

In this article I review one that I have found.

This product I am reviewing here is an audio product that I’ve used almost every day since I discovered it several years ago – a Binaural Beats mp3 for Extra-Sensory Perception.

Unlike most products and courses, this is a product that you only need listen to, in order to feel the effects on your intuitive abilities, as “too good to be true” as that may sound!

In this article, I’m, going to talk about how exactly binaural beats have amplified and improved my intuitive abilities in the last few months, so that you can decide whether they could help you too in your intuitive development.

    What are Binaural Beats?

Binaural Beats are rhythmic humming sounds that are created by playing two simple tones in the right and left ears. They are sold online as mp3’s.  They don’t just include humming.  In order to make them nicer to listen to, they also have water and nature sounds on them, plus some music.  And you have to listen to them using headphones.  These beats have been proven to alter brainwave frequencies, resulting in an altered state of consciousness.

This state of consciousness is called the alpha state.

    What is the Alpha State?

For certain states of consciousness and activities, certain brain waves occur.

Alpha is the brain wave that occurs during light sleep, dreams, meditation, daydreams and creative visualization.

It’s the state you need to be in, in order to receive intuitive information.

Being in the Alpha State is like being in a light trance – you notice what is going on around you, but your usually busy mind is extremely quiet. You become a clear conduit for intuitive information.  If you’ve had a reading with an intuitive on the phone or in person, they will have been in this alpha state while talking to you.

The thing is, we all have intuitive guidance available to us, when we can quiet our minds and put ourselves in the alpha state.  But most people don’t know they need to be in the alpha state to receive it.  And most people certainly don’t know how to put themselves in the alpha state at will. And so we may only get glimpses of intuition here and there, and our intuitive skills seem to work sometimes, but not at other times.

That is because we spend most of our waking time in a state that is not conducive to receiving intuitive information – the beta state.

Beta is the brain wave that occurs when you are fully conscious and awake.  You are concentrating and your brain is engaged and busy, busy, busy in this state.  You cannot receive intuitive information in this state, although you may have already tried and failed.

So, quite simply, unless you can quieten your mind and put yourself into the Alpha state, you don’t receive intuitive information when you want it.

I used to think that intuitives were born gifted, or special. But now I know that they are just people who have learned to put themselves into this altered state of consciousness at will and have done some experimenting with processes while in the alpha state.  I know that, because I am one of them.

    How They Work

This Extra-Sensory Perception mp3 guarantees to put you in a peaceful meditative state, sometimes within just 5 minutes of listening to it. And you can even let your mind wander while listening – you don’t need to try to quieten your mind, because the mp3 does it for you automatically.   And if you listen to it regularly, it trains your brainwaves to be able to enter that state quickly and easily in future.  It effectively fast-tracks your intuitive development.

Another way to fast-track your intuitive development is to learn to meditate.  If you can do it regularly and consistently, it will put you in the alpha state too.  That is why meditation is frequently recommended for intuitive development – and rightly so.

But the thing is, I never really got that far with meditation.  Meditation is one of my least favourite things to do. And I know a lot of people who feel the same about it.

I had real trouble quietening my thoughts for ten seconds, let alone a whole minute.  My mind would bang on about anything – how I was hungry, thirsty, too hot, too cold, wondered about what I would have for dinner, remarked on how loud the road works are. I am someone who needs to be moving.  I have a lot of nervous energy.  Meditation was like torture to me.  I did the absolute minimum meditation before readings – just enough to enter the alpha state.

I didn’t know how much my undisciplined mind was holding me back in my intuitive development until I started using this mp3, which I discovered by accident.

How I Stumbled Upon Binaural Beats

I first discovered them, via my friend and hypnotherapist Angela who sent me a hypnosis mp3 to help me sleep.  Firstly, she sent a hypnosis mp3 with her simply talking.  I listened to it a few times but it was just like my meditations – it was hard to get my mind to shut up and pay attention.  So, I wasn’t sure I was being hypnotized.

Then a few days later, she sent me an updated version of the hypnosis – an mp3 to help me to sleep with some binaural beats on it.  When I listened to this mp3, I noticed the difference straight away.  It was like it was speaking to a whole different part of me – that was present, and listening.  I was hypnotized. While listening, I realized that I was in the same state that I’m in when I do readings, and it had happened within a matter of minutes. And I didn’t have to meditate to get there – hurray!

So, I was not surprised when I found out that binaural beats don’t just help you to sleep, they are also used to awaken and improve extra-sensory perception and intuition.  I ordered one of these specialized ESP MP3’s from the Unexplainable Store to check it out.

I used it for two weeks, once a day for about thirty minutes and here are some of my experiences while listening to it:

    • My mind’s eye (the centre of clairvoyance) began to run riot while I was listening
    • I spontaneously had vivid meetings with my Spirit Guides – without even trying.
    • My chakras opened up spontaneously and I felt tingling in various places on my body.
    • Any stressful thoughts and anxiety drifted away and my thoughts, in general, were silenced.
    • While listening, I spontaneously received a variety of intuitive insights and epiphanies about my life.

Those are just a few of the general experiences I have had. This sort of thing happens every time I listen.  It’s not hit and miss. My students report similar results and I have read that these experiences are par for the course while listening to the mp3. I like inducing experiences like these on a daily basis – It makes me feel more connected to my guides and spirit.

I also believe that my readings have improved as a result of listening to binaural beats.  Whereas before it would take me a long time to calm my mind before a reading, now I can do it quickly and it’s not difficult for me anymore.

Why listening to Binaural Beats is more fun than meditation

The thing I love about listening to this mp3 is that it is extremely pleasurable – the first time I used them, I put an update on my Facebook account saying that it was ‘better than sex!’

That might sound strange but it is very enjoyable.  It’s so far from the chore that meditation was.

    Other Uses for Binaural Beats

I mentioned binaural beats on my blog a few weeks ago, and since then, several readers and clients have told me that they also use binaural beats for anxiety and stress relief (I can vouch for that as I always emerge from a binaural beats session feeling lighter and in a better mood).  I also know people who use them to help them have lucid dreams.

Are Binaural Beats Right for You?

So, in summary, the mp3 may be right for you if:

    • You are interested in awakening your intuitive abilities.
    • You want to strengthen your already existing intuitive abilities.
    • You want to learn to meditate but find it hard to relax or quieten your mind.
    • You do intuitive readings but find that your mind can sometimes get in the way of connecting with people’s Spirit Guides.

Please note that this ESP binaural beats MP3 is not right for you if you are looking for a quick magic bullet for awakening intuitive abilities, permanently. Nothing will do that for you.  You will have to do other work too.

The ESP binaural beats mp3 will definitely train you to be in the alpha state, which is an essential component of receiving intuitive information.  But remember that that is one essential part of awakening intuitive ability – it’s not the whole process.

Effective intuitive development = the alpha state + finding the right process for you, and practising it too.

The mp3 that I have used and recommend was from the Unexplainable Store. It cost $14 (US dollars) and they have a 60-day money-back guarantee in case you don’t like it. These recordings are also better sound quality than many of the other binaural beats that I know of which are sold online.

You can order the MP3 that I tried here – Extra-Sensory Perception Binaural Beats MP3.

If you buy the mp3, I hope you enjoy listening to them like I have.

PS. The name of the mp3 I bought (& recommend) from the Unexplainable Store is the “ESP/ Psychic Binaural Beat” mp3.

  • What is Intuition?

    What is Intuition?

In this post I explore what intuition is, including the differences between intuitive abilities and psychic abilities, because many people do not know what intuition is exactly, and how it differs from psychic abilities.

    What is Intuition?

You know those moments when you get a feeling in your gut that someone is not trustworthy? Or a little insight about someone else’s life – for example, you know that your friend is going to get the job that she’s about to go to an interview for? That would be your intuition.

One intuitive insight that sticks out in my memory for some reason was a scenario at work about 18 months ago – it was when I was teaching English and French in a language school in Spain.

On Thursdays I only taught English, but that day as I was going out the door I knew I had to take my French grammar book with me. I wasn’t going to teach French that day and I rarely used my French grammar book anyway, even on the days I taught French, so it appeared to be pointless. But I heeded my intuitive voice and took it anyway.

Then in the afternoon one of my French students came in unexpectedly and wanted a photocopy from my French grammar book. Ta-da, I could produce one because I had it with me, because I knew I’d need it that day. Although I didn’t know what for.

I hesitated to include that story in this article because it’s kind of mundane. I didn’t find my life purpose through this intuitive insight or get guided towards buried treasure. It was a fairly small event and wasn’t too impactful, but it made my day and my student’s go more smoothly and that’s about it. Plus the intuitive insight made me feel provided for, and looked after. It was nice to have!

So, intuition can be little insights which help you with the little things – such as making your day go more smoothly, saving you time, energy or money here and there. But it doesn’t have to be small – larger insights can also help you with the big things of life, such as prevent you from investing a great deal in something (such as a major project) which will come to a dead end. Intuitive insight usually comes to you in the moment, as you need it, just like the example above of my French grammar book.

The Difference between Intuitive Gifts and Psychic Gifts

A key component of intuition is that it comes to you and through you, usually spontaneously. In order for that to happen, you must be open and you must notice intuition. On the other hand, when we talk about developing psychic ability, we’re talking more about you going ‘out there’ energetically to receive information from your Higher self or Spirit Guides.

For intuition, we often talk about feelings, impressions and a sense of knowing and all of these come through the intuitive ‘vehicles’ of clairsentience and claircognizance. (Claircognizance is an insight that just pops up spontaneously in your brain, perhaps unrelated to anything you were thinking about. Clairsentience can be a gut feeling, or a strong, meaningful emotion which speaks to you.)

So, as a general rule, an intuitive tends to use mostly clairsentience and claircognizance, whereas if someone calls herself a psychic, it’s more likely that she’ll use three or four intuitive vehicles – clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience and claircognizance. I have also noticed that those psychics who mostly use clairvoyance and clairaudience usually refer to themselves as psychics, not as intuitives.

I believe that for most people, intuitive ability is easier to develop than psychic ability, because it comes primarily through claircognizance and clairsentience and most people are naturally claircognizant and clairsentient. On the other hand, clairvoyance and clairaudience seem to be additional ‘specialties’ that you can have as an intuitive, as fewer people are naturally clairaudient and very few people are naturally clairvoyant.

  • Which Is Your Strongest Intuitive Gift?

Which Is Your Strongest Intuitive Gift?

If you’ve read any of my other articles you’ll probably notice I’ve been banging on about the importance of finding out your intuitive gifts. This is because intuition or psychic ability is not just one gift – it’s actually made up of six gifts – clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, dreaming, empathy and claircognizance.

The chances are, you have innate abilities in one or two of these gifts. The chances also are that one or two of the above gifts you do not have yet. Your intuition will be difficult and slow to develop if you try to develop a gift that you don’t have yet and neglect the gifts you do have. So that’s why it helps to start your journey of intuitive development knowing what you’re naturally good at.

Here is a quiz to help you to find out what gifts you have:

(Note: you can also now take this quiz here, and it will automatically calculate the result for you.)

    Clairvoyance

Clairvoyance is the ability to ‘see’ Spirit

    • Do you dream in colour and with vivid images?

    • When you’re doing creative work, like designing something and deciding how you want something to look, do you get a clear image in your head of it?

    • When you close your eyes, can you clearly see any object of your choosing? For example, visualize a bicycle. Can you see it in your mind’s eye? (Natural clairvoyants usually have an easy time than most at visualizing).

    • Do you get visual solutions to problems in your mind’s eye?

    • Are you very visually/artistically creative?

    • Do you ever see lights or auras around people when you’re speaking to them?

    • Do you ever see things moving in the corner of your eye?

    Clairaudience

Clairaudience is the ability to hear your Higher Self, Spirit Guides and other extra-sensory input

    • Have you ever had a voice clearly direct you to do something and it turned out to be helpful or accurate?

    • Have you ever heard ringing or buzzing sounds in your ears?

    • Do you hear voices upon waking or going to sleep?

    • Do you sometimes hear music playing in your head?

    • Do you wake up in the morning with a song in your head?

    • Have you ever heard anything outside of you, such as whispering, music or voices when there was no-one there?

    • Do you get words popping into your head fully formed which are relevant or solutions to difficulties you’re having?

    Clairsentience

Clairsentience is intuition in the form of emotional input, physical feelings or gut feelings

    • Do you get tingling sensations on your body for no reason?

    • Do you feel your emotions very deeply?

    • Can you feel the emotions of others?

    • Do you need a lot of time alone to recharge your energetic batteries?

    • Are you sensitive and thin-skinned?

    • Do you have an ‘F’ in your Myers-Briggs type (F for feeling)?

    • Do you know what’s the right path to take according to how it feels to you?

    Claircognizance

Claircognizance is when intuitive information just pops into your head

    • Are you very analytical and thinking-oriented?

    • Can you be skeptical – does your mind often have the final say in things?

    • Do you get lots of great ideas seemingly out of nowhere?

    • Are you mentally and creatively inspired on a regular basis?

    • Are you good at solving problems and lateral thinking?

    • Are you often making subtle assumptions which turn out to be true?

    • Are you sizing up people and knowing things without being told?

    • Do you know that things are going to happen ahead of time?

    • Do you come across as a know-it-all because you always think of an answer to the difficult questions of life?

    Empathy

    • Do you know how others are feeling without needing to ask?

    • Can you feel tension in the air when there’s been an argument?

    • Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed that there are so many people on Earth who are suffering, and wish you could do something about it?

    • Do you often feel overwhelmed in social interactions because you are so absorbed in observing others’ feelings and experiences?

    • Do you identify deeply with other peoples’ problems and difficulties? (and this sometimes means you over-identify with other people, and sacrifice your own needs in order to help others)

    Dreaming

    • Do you often remember your dreams?

    • Do you wake up from dreams feeling like you learned or ‘realized’ something?

    • Have you ever had a dream where a deceased loved one showed up?

    • Have you ever had a lucid dream or an astral projection experience?

    • Are your dreams rich in interesting symbolism?

Now add up how many times you said yes to statements in each category. Did you say ‘yes’ to some statements in one or two categories in particular?

More tips to find out which gifts you have

    1. Experiment. Try exercises to awaken each clair. For starters, I have a few suggestions for what to try in each of my articles about clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience and claircognizance. You may notice that one of the exercises is really easy for you and awakens something in your perception.

    2. Notice where you’re already using your natural gifts. Remember the times when you actually have received some intuitive guidance – how did it come? Was it visual, auditory, emotional or kinesthetic?

Which are the most common psychic gifts?

Several years ago, I offered a free mini reading where I’d tell people which intuitive gift they had, out of the four mentioned above. I did between 600 and 700 of these mini readings. I found that claircognizance and clairsentience are really common gifts. The vast majority of people I read for have one of these gifts as either their primary or secondary intuitive gift. These gifts are usually classed as ‘intuition’ and they can be very subtle, which is why they can often go unnoticed. Only a small proportion of people I read for had clairvoyance as their strongest gift.

  • How Can I Accelerate My Psychic Development?

How Can I Accelerate My Psychic Development?

There really is no set period of time that your psychic ability should take to develop. How long it takes depends on lots of things, including how motivated you are to work at it, how much time you spend on hit and miss/trial and error approaches and your willingness to stick at it.

But there are some approaches you can take which make the process more challenging and time-consuming than it needs to be. I’ve listed here the four approaches I’ve found unhelpful – from my own experience and from the experience of others, so that you can avoid them.

    1. Putting Pressure on Yourself

I’ve noticed that sometimes people can get frustrated because they expect their intuition or psychic abilities to be like a switch that you can ‘switch on’ and life suddenly becomes easier. Actually, intuitive development really is a whole-person growth experience and because of that, it rarely happens overnight.

It’s a process of tuning back in to your spirit, shedding the conditioning of a society which says you’re crazy and just talking to yourself and getting over your self-doubt. It sometimes requires you to develop courage, self-determination, patience or faith. And If you have unhelpful beliefs about the world and yourself, sometimes you need to shed them as part of the process. Often you’re learning important lessons before you can see the results. Those are the lessons which can make it time-consuming, but they are also the lessons and growth experiences which make it a worthy undertaking, from a spiritual perspective.

So, intuition develops best in an environment of allowing, exploration and non-detachment. If you’re dying to see results, putting pressure on yourself or full of impatience, frustration or fear, the process will be much more challenging than it needs to be.

If your approach to psychic development is a little too goal-oriented, remember why you’re doing it. You aren’t developing your intuition so you can psychically find out the lottery numbers, you’re doing it to develop yourself. It’ll happen on time.

Let’s have a look at the second approach that trips people up and slows them down in psychic development:

    2. Trying to Develop the Wrong Gift

Did you know your intuition is not just one gift? It’s made up of many gifts.

The five main psychic gifts are dreaming, clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience and claircognizance.

(Other sub-gifts will fall under the umbrella of one of these main gifts.)

Some of these gifts you have naturally and can just awaken, and some will come less naturally to you, so you need to work much harder on those if you choose to develop them first.

About your intuitive gifts and how they work

Think of your inherent psychic ability a bit like a television set and aerial. On your television set, you have several different ‘channels’ to get intuitive messages. You might be born hard-wired with really good ‘signal’ on one channel. Let’s say clairvoyance (seeing Spirit) is your primary channel, clairaudience (hearing your inner voice and your Spirit Guides) may be your secondary channel, clairsentience (gut feelings and emotions) is channel three and claircognizance (getting Divinely-inspired thoughts and ideas) is channel four.

Some of us are specially designed or ‘wired’ to broadcast really clearly on one channel only. Others on two or three channels. A few people can broadcast really well on all channels without any practice. Actually, most people are naturally good at receiving some transmissions through one or two channels, with some practice, so this is what we need to do, as intuitives:

We need to find out which is our strongest channels (our strongest gifts) and work on developing those first.

Most people just take one gift at random which they think is kind of cool and try developing that.

That was also my approach to intuitive development, in the beginning. I wanted to be clairvoyant but it wasn’t my strongest gift. I wasted several months thinking I wasn’t very intuitive simply because my clairvoyance wasn’t developing fast enough.

But when I hit upon automatic writing (which utilises claircognizance) I couldn’t believe the difference – I was getting much more connection. It was clear and the information just flowed. Whereas clairvoyance felt exactly like some dodgy, untuned channel – little clarity or flow. The same with my clairsentience (gut feelings and feelings in general) – I was already getting information through clairsentience as I needed it. But those two ‘channels’ – clairsentience and claircognizance – I wasn’t really seeing as valid channels through which to tune into Spirit, I wanted to be clairvoyant like most other psychics.

I’ve seen clients in a similar situation – trying to make their intuition come through a gift or a channel which isn’t one of their strongest and it makes the process more difficult than it needs to be. On the other hand, finding out what you are already gifted in, and developing that makes the process more satisfying and saves a lot of time and energy.

But this does not mean you have to settle only for the gifts we already have and just forgetting the rest.

What usually happens then is that as your primary gifts become stronger, you also become more accomplished at tuning in the other ‘channels’, if you want to, because you’ve done it once and you know what to do now – your overall ‘signal’ is good. Your primary gift is a starting point.

If you want to speed up your intuitive development, I’d recommend you find out what your natural gifts are and develop those first. Because if you don’t know what your personal psychic strengths are, then you will probably waste some time with a hit-and-miss/ trial and error approach.

If you don’t know what your primary gift is, I have an online quiz here which can help.

    3. Not Having a Plan

Most of the people who are slow to develop psychic ability are those who don’t have a program or a process they’re following consistently. They’re often not setting aside time in their week or day for intuitive development. They’re just trying a few things here and there to see what happens.

To develop your intuition, it really helps to have structure. You want processes which teach you to awaken your psychic ability, a process to teach you to develop your gifts and a process so that you can access them at will whenever you want – and you only want processes which suit you and utilize your natural, existing strengths.

Investing energy, time or money in an intuitive development plan broadcasts an entirely different intention to the Universe than just doing a couple of exercises here and there. The more invested you are in terms of time and energy and the more structure you give your intention to develop psychically, the quicker you’ll get results.

I also reveal my process for psychic development in this article:

    4. Letting Fear Get the Better of You

Like attracts like, so if you hold yourself in a place of fear, you’ll create more things which make you fearful. But if you acknowledge the fear and allow yourself to rise above it, you just won’t encounter anything that scares you.

I personally remember being so scared when I was developing psychically and it took me months to get over that. But once I let go of my fear, psychic phenomena and intuition became an ordinary part of my experience. I found out that my clairaudience was just an inner voice that sounded like mine, my clairvoyance was just like day-dreaming, only directed by Spirit and my claircognizance was a subtle intrusion of inspired thought into my consciousness. I realized that nothing was out to scare me unless I invited it to.

In this article I discuss what clairvoyance is exactly and also how to develop this gift.

Clairvoyance means ‘clear-seeing’. Almost everyone knows what clairvoyance is — it’s the ability to see Spirit through your third eye. Clairvoyants can see energy fields, spirits, symbols and get visual premonitions. Developing clairvoyance isn’t difficult — in this article, I give you some pointers to do this.

Some clairvoyants see things in their mind’s eye (which is like the movie screen that you see inside your mind when you close your eyes) and some can see with their physical eyes. Both are possible, but it’s more common to see in the mind’s eye. Whereas a clairsentient might look at your photo and pick up on your feelings and emotions, a clairvoyant would probably see your aura, the essence of your spirit and Spirit Guides or Guardian Angels around you. When reading a situation, a clairvoyant may see a symbol or a ‘movie-scene’ which is a metaphor for the situation.

Receiving clairvoyant images is one thing, but not all clairvoyants are gifted at interpreting what they see. To interpret a vision or symbol, you need to use your claircognizance or clairaudience as well.

I’ve written articles on the three other major psychic gifts: clairaudience, clairsentience, and claircognizance. The reason why I didn’t write an article about clairvoyance sooner is because it is not really a common psychic gift.

On the other hand, I felt compelled to write about claircognizance and clairsentience because they are so common and the people who have these gifts often do not know that these even constitute psychic gifts which can be developed. By contrast, in my mini readings, I’ve only read for about ten people who have been natural clairvoyants (that’s about ten people out of 350) and most of those people knew about their clairvoyant abilities. I guess this rare factor could be why clairvoyance is thought of as THE psychic gift to have, because it’s more exclusive somehow.

Why Most People Don’t Need Clairvoyant Gifts

Are clairvoyant abilities better than the other psychic gifts, like clairaudience or clairsentience?

I don’t think so. All the intuitive vehicles are meant to work together. In fact, I’d say that clairvoyance is not always needed, unless you’re a medium.

On the other hand, most people need some clairsentience, to pick up vibes from people. Some clairaudience or claircognizance is helpful as well, to get quick warnings from your guides or higher self, like ‘run!’ or ‘don’t take that road’. But I can’t think of any situations where clairvoyant abilities are absolutely essential in everyday life, unless you do psychic/mediumship readings in your work. I personally do not use clairvoyance in my work much. I do sometimes ‘see’ clients’ past lives, but when I need to know details about a situation, my guides will tend to just ‘put’ the information into my brain, rather than sending me symbols or metaphors or images.

How to Develop your Clairvoyant Abilities

Even if you’re not a natural clairvoyant, you can still develop your clairvoyance. Flexing my clairvoyant muscles was the first thing I did when I started developing psychically. I picked up a good book called Psychic Development for Beginners by William Hewitt and began using his exercises to open up my third eye (the exercise is below.)

I have to say that the below exercise opened up my third eye (the centre of clairvoyant abilities) quite spectacularly for a few days, then I got scared and shut it down again! I started to see my guides in my mind’s eye, and I saw things moving in the corner of my eye. I also saw coloured lights around people and I began to have really strange and vivid dreams, in colour. I wasn’t used to seeing so much, and it was overwhelming for me.

    An Exercise for Developing Clairvoyance

The exercise is this: visualize yourself holding seven balloons, of the colours red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet and indigo. Let the balloons go one by one, beginning with the red balloon. Watch them float up to the blue sky until they disappear before you release the next one.

If you’re not used to visualizing, then this exercise could be quite difficult for you at first. You may find it hard to concentrate or it may be difficult for you to visualize vividly or in colour — it all depends on how developed your imagination muscles are.

Any activity which uses your visual imagination is good for strengthening clairvoyant abilities, because your imagination is the tool that Spirit uses to send you information, in the form of images. The more well-oiled your ‘imagination cogs’ are, the easier it is for spirit to send you clear images.

Here’s another way to open up your clairvoyance: Imagine a third eye, between your eyebrows. Visualize the eyelid on your third eye opening up. All visualization does is set an intention to do something. If you visualize this regularly, you’re putting energy behind your intention to open up your third eye, the centre of your clairvoyant abilities.

    Differentiating Between Imagination and Intuition

So, how can you tell the difference between what’s from your imagination and what’s from Spirit?

When you receive an image from Spirit, you are not in control. You are not creating the image — it just appears in your mind’s eye without any active participation from you.

    Blocks to Clairvoyance

A few people who are natural clairvoyants never see any evidence of their gift. When this happens, it usually means there is a blockage or an energy leak at the third eye chakra. At the bottom of this there tends to be some trauma caused by having ‘seen’ something unexpected or unpleasant.

There are two reasons I personally did not use to put much effort into developing my clairvoyant abilities further: one is that I felt I didn’t need it too much for my work and the second is that I didn’t really want to see, because I had a scary experience in the past.

When I was about five or six years old, I was playing in my bed late at night. I looked up and saw a woman standing in the corner of my room by the door, staring at me — just writing about it gives me the creeps. I have never been more frightened in my life than at that moment. All I can remember is pulling the covers over my head and hoping she’d go away. I remember my heart beating so fast that I thought it would burst! I think I decided at that point that seeing spirits was too frightening for me and it took a lot of time and some healing before my clairvoyance developed properly.

A lot of people have a blockage like this, due to some sort of frightening psychic experience. If this applies to you and you can locate or remember what is blocking your third eye, use my angelic healing exercise (method # 3) in this article: ‘Four Ways to Heal Yourself’ – it really works!

Any general blocks to truth can also affect your clairvoyance (and the overall state of your intuitive faculties). For example, if you live your life in a state of denial or falsehood, your clairvoyance will be weakened. If you want to have strong intuition, get into the habit of facing up to the truth in your life. If you kid yourself about something on a regular basis, it weakens your trust in your own perceptions and intuition and this will affect your clairvoyant abilities.

    Further Tips:

    • Place a lapis lazuli or clear quartz crystal over your third eye chakra, or go into a crystal shop with the intention of finding the right crystal to help you to open up your third eye. You may feel really drawn to one crystal in particular which can help you.
    • When you’re working with your clairvoyance at first, it can also help to close your eyes and use your mind’s eye rather than expecting to see things straight away with your physical eyes.
    • Use the affirmation “I am profoundly clairvoyant. It is safe for me to see”
    • Release and heal whatever fears or trauma you have around seeing spirits.

  • The Top Three Myths About Psychic Ability

The Top Three Myths About Psychic Ability

Myth # 1: Only ‘Gifted’ People Can Develop Psychic Awareness

Clients often ask me ‘do you really think I could develop my psychic abilities?’

My answer is always yes and the reason for that is, we all have the potential to be gifted psychics. Your intuition is your birth right, but for many of us our psychic senses diminish in childhood as they are not nurtured in the same way that our five physical senses are. Those who are psychic have either:

I retained a little bit of psychic ability from childhood but I also fall somewhat into the second category of people (those who have worked to consciously develop their psychic ability) – this is partly because I shut off my natural psychic awareness around the age of six or seven. I remember seeing spirits around that age. My mother told me that my experiences were just imaginings and since I was not the kind of child who liked to go against the grain, I took this to heart. As a result, I just stopped engaging with the energies around me.

My psychic re-awakening began with a bump in 2007, when I trained as a professional intuitive.

One night I was rudely awakened by a spirit who presented as a dark-haired man, in his thirties. And the following happened in a flash:

The spirit of this man showed me an image (like a movie image) of him in a caravan with a woman who appeared to be his wife. The man got out of the caravan. My boss at that time got into the caravan with the woman and replaced the man. The man gave me this message:

“I was not able to take my wife on holiday, but I am so glad your boss did”.

I was shocked and excited that I had had an encounter with a spirit but I did not know who the spirit was or what his message meant. I knew I had to relay it to my boss.

So, the next day, I put my apprehensions to one side and told my boss about what had happened in the night. He was amazed and proceeded to explain that the spirit was undoubtedly his wife’s first husband, who had died several years earlier.

My boss’s wife and her first husband (the deceased spirit) had always planned to spend time travelling around the US in a camper van but their dream was never fulfilled as he became ill and later passed away. When she met her second husband – my boss – they made the camper van tour that she had been unable to make with her first husband. I couldn’t believe what had just happened to me! I didn’t consider myself psychic or gifted and all I had done was set an intention and do a little psychic development. This story shows that we can all reawaken our psychic awareness, sometimes with quite stunning results.

Myth # 2: Psychic Development is Scary Because You Have To Communicate With Spirits

I remember being really terrified at the thought of opening up my psychic awareness again. I didn’t want to talk to spirits or see them – I was afraid of being startled.

Talking to disembodied spirits and seeing them is a big aspect of psychic awareness. But I later learned that there are other ways to tune into Spirit. Psychic awareness can also be gut feeling (clairsentience), an inner knowing (claircognizance) or listening to your inner voice (clairaudience).

If you’re a beginner in psychic development, you can begin by tuning into your own Higher Self. You don’t have to talk to disembodied spirits to do that.

Your Higher Self is already communicating with you constantly – whether you are perceiving it is another matter. If you’re stuck in a job you hate with no escape in sight, your Higher Self may whisper to you ‘you know this job isn’t for you…why don’t you pursue your long-term dream of becoming a writer?’

This sense of knowing that you’re not fulfilling your purpose by working in a job you hate is just as much part of your extra-sensory perception as clairvoyance is.

You can begin developing psychic awareness just by allowing your Higher Self to guide you. Take note of what feels ‘right’ to you, on a deep level and take action accordingly. It is one thing receiving intuitive guidance, but acting on that intuitive guidance is something else entirely and can take a great deal of courage at times.

Let’s have a look at the third myth:

Myth # 3: All psychics are clairvoyant by definition

Before I trained in spiritual healing, I thought that all psychics had to be clairvoyant. This was mostly because many professional psychics are natural clairvoyants. I’m not among them. My clairvoyance has developed over time, but my strongest intuitive gifts are still clairsentience (gut feeling, empathy, the ability to ‘feel’ what aligns with my spirit, among other things) and claircognizance (the ability to ‘download’ information from Spirit).

But I didn’t realize I had these gifts until I started my training. And I’m not alone in being primarily clairsentient and claircognizant. Several months ago, in my readings, I undertook to find out from clients’ Akashic soul records which psychic gifts they use to receive information from their Higher Self. I found that most clients do not primarily utilize the gift that we normally associate with being psychic – clairvoyance. Over the last several months around 35% of my clients have been primarily claircognizant (this means that their strongest natural psychic ability is claircognizance), 30% clairsentient, 30% clairaudient and only 5% of the people I read for were clairvoyant.

Many people haven’t heard of clairsentience and claircognizance (and few have heard of clairaudience), which is interesting because according to what I’ve seen over the past several months, these psychic gifts are so much more common than clairvoyance.

Does this mean that the people who aren’t naturally clairvoyant can’t be gifted psychics?

No, what it means is that most people have a different psychic skill set from the one we’re used to hearing about most – clairvoyance. But clairvoyance is not the only skill to develop. Clairsentience, claircognizance and clairaudience are equally valid intuitive ‘vehicles’ too.

So now when clients ask me “do you really think I could be psychic?” my answer is always yes, if you can do the following: identify your strongest psychic gift , honour and acknowledge the guidance you receive through that intuitive ‘vehicle’ and then make time to consciously develop it .

The rest will follow. Once you honour and develop your primary gift, you will find that other skills that once weren’t so natural to you will develop as well.
