If you follow my blog, you might know that I am someone who has used the Law of Assumption/Law of Attraction (they are essentially the same law) to drastically change my life for the better. In the last few years, I’ve manifested big health changes, a new relationship, a new location that suits me better, and more.
This does not mean that life never throws up any problems for me and my life is perfect (moving to a new location solved a couple of big problems but also created many more smaller problems.)
One of the misconceptions people have about the Law of Attraction/Assumption is that when you use it, life should magically become problem free long term.
In my opinion, this is not realistic.
Life will continue to challenge all of us in various ways (some people more than others, for sure — and there are various reasons for this).
The purpose of conscious creation in my view, is not just to manifest big sweeping changes in our lives and solve large problems, but also to solve smaller problems.
How many people (especially beginners) approach using this Law is to have sky high expectations initially. They use it for a while and expect multiple bigger problems (such as serious health issues, financial problems or significant relationship challenges) to disappear in weeks or months.
That could happen for some, but it often doesn’t (for various reasons) and then sometimes people will give up and conclude it doesn’t work.
If you’re new to using the Law of Assumption or if you’re using it unsuccessfully for a big intention and have given up, I encourage you to make your goals smaller and use it to solve a small problem.
This is helpful because (1) it can build your confidence and (2) it will also improve your life in small ways if you continue to use it in this way.
Here’s an exercise for 2026…
Choose one (small to medium sized) problem you currently have which, if solved, would make your life better in some way.
Then familiarise yourself with the following process for manifesting change with this problem:
- Decide what you want instead and set an intention
- Choose a manifesting technique that appeals to you and use it daily.
- Do not do LOA techniques with a sense of expectation for something manifesting in the 3D (your first goal is to change your inner world)
- Turn your back on your 3D reality to the best of your ability since it is probably going to differ in some way from what you are manifesting into the 3D
- Keep a mental diet
- Work on your self-concept if needed.
It isn’t always easy to do all of the above. If this seems too overwhelming, don’t bother with most of it, the main step to complete is the second one.
A scenario from my own life…
When I moved to Paraguay in August 2025, I signed a one year lease for a rental property. The owner was a man who had many unneutered farm cats on his property. Three females had babies and there were suddenly 16 kittens living outside. There was a financial penalty for leaving the rental property before the lease was up, but my life had become very difficult due to the landlord’s negligence.
I had hungry mothers on my doorstep needing lots of feeding during pregnancy and nursing, one mother became ill and abandoned her babies and when they reached 8 weeks, the kittens needed homes. The owner, despite actually being a vet, would not help, neuter or feed his cats. My home had become unliveable.
In the end, I managed to move out of that property with the feckless landlord without paying the penalty, and into a better one. When I was still there, I neutered all of the adult cats to stop the breeding cycle, and I found good homes for 12 kittens. We are now living in a better place and have 2 kittens remaining to be adopted out…Pipo and Miel.

(Thank you to my assistant Nicky for volunteering to make these lovely photoshopped pictures for me to help us with finding adopters!)
It is New Year’s day and my house is an absolute tip. I’ve got litter trays with litter scattered on the floor, half eaten plates of food, kittens with fleas (we took them to the vet to be deflead a few days ago but there was a misunderstanding and they got dewormed instead of deflead). Working is sometimes difficult. The kittens wrestle and zoom all over the place, and cry because they are just vocal and whingey. My 10 year old cat is a not a big fan of the kittens. They create constant chaos and dirt, doing things like knocking over clean washing onto a dirty floor that they just vomited on, etc. I feel like I’m pushing a big rock up a hill only for it to roll down again.
My life would improve a lot by finding homes for these 2 in the new year and having no more kittens in the house. I’d like to close this chapter and I’d like to adopt them to the same home together or two different homes on the same day (Pipo cries without his brother). I’d also like them to go to a home with access to a garden. This is my intention.
I have many other intentions relating to my new home, too, but to avoid overwhelm I’ll be focusing on this.
A New Year’s Challenge
If you’re new to using the Law of Assumption/Attraction or using it unsuccessfully, go through the process above with one small to medium sized problem.
The main thing is to stick with a daily LOA technique throughout January, even if you’re not sure if this will work for you or if you feel like you have bigger problems you need to resolve instead.
Just a note that if you feel you have a bigger problem (like a large amount of debt or a serious illness) and you know you have a lot of attachment to manifesting the problem away, it may be best to use the LOA to resolve a problem that isn’t connected to your big intention — something completely separate and in a different sphere of life.
Update: Pipo and Miel found new homes a few days after this blog was written. They went to different homes on the same day, and both have a home with an outdoor space to enjoy.
