Over the years, I’ve had multiple people get in touch with me in distress, worried that they had manifested the death of a loved one and asking my opinion about that.

One of them was a woman who felt very resentful towards her ex for how he treated her, and often thought of him dying. She didn’t consciously want any harm to come to him but she kept imagining that she was at his funeral. A couple of years later he was dead.

Another reader was someone who thought of a family member committing suicide and that happened soon after.

Both of these people were familiar with the concept of conscious creation and wondered if they had caused a death with their thoughts.

I don’t believe we can accidentally manifest the death of someone close to us.

The number of days we will live is one of those aspects of our lives that I believe is for the most part fixed before we incarnate. Before we incarnate, we choose the date of our death just as we choose the date of our birth.

Therefore, it is something we can ‘tune into’ and often be right about, because unlike other aspects of our lives that are unpredictable due to free will, our date of death is fixed. My opinion is that this is what we are picking up on — we’re intuiting, not manifesting the death of someone around us.

Neville Goddard, in his lecture ‘The Flood Is Still Upon Us’ alludes to this concept of our days being numbered when he talked about a man who was manifesting a new job.

“Unfortunately in a way, he did not live very long. He was a young man. But in about three years he was gone. He had a heart attack, and he was gone. But he would have gone anyway, whether he was here or there, for we come on time and we go on time.”

The Bible also states that our days are numbered in a specific way, and I imagine that Neville (steeped as he was in Christian mysticism) was influenced by this:

A man’s days are numbered. You know the number of his months. He cannot live longer than the time You have set.

Job 14:5-7

I do believe that there is one exception to this — during a very challenging lifetime, a soul can put in place a ‘get out’, and it’s usually in the first 20 years of life. This is essentially an alternative ‘exit point’ and it’s up to the soul in that moment whether they want to take it. When we are on the other side planning an incarnation, we do so with some enthusiasm and in forgetfulness of the struggles that we have experienced in the past on the earth plane. Souls forget how difficult it can sometimes be once we are here. If a soul feels they have misjudged their capacity to continue with the life and they want to go back, they do sometimes get an opportunity. I have heard mediums refer to this phenomenon many times.

I believe I had an opportunity myself when I was age 3. I threw my dolly into a busy road and ran after it into oncoming traffic. I don’t remember it but I was almost hit by a car and my mother was very upset.

Guardian angels and death

Atheists will often present the argument that God or the angels only appear to help some people but not others. How can there be a Divine Intelligence or angels if small children die in accidents or from illnesses, and are not helped by these beings?

I believe that we plan our lives before we incarnate. If we decide to have a life that only lasts 5 years, the guardian angels are not going to change that for us because that is what we have planned. If we decide to have a life that lasts 70 years and we are headed for a fatal accident before it is our time to die, our angel will intervene.
