This is a topic I’ve often been asked about by students, and so I thought it was time to answer it on the blog.
Yes, motherhood can cause an increase in intuitive abilities. I’m not a mother, but having had the experience of working with many women, helping them to develop their psychic gifts, I can say this is definitely a thing!
And in this article, I’m going to detail a couple of the reasons why motherhood can cause an awakening in psychic gifts.
Let’s have a look at the first possible mechanism for an increase in intuition after becoming a mum:
1. The energetic influence from the soul you carry inside of you
When you are pregnant, you are of course carrying another soul within your energy field for nine months. This baby is going to be sitting in your energy for all that time, which means they are influenced by your energy field, and conversely their energy may also influence yours.
Some of the souls that are being born into the world at the moment are high vibrational souls with lots of wisdom and many spiritual gifts, and when you carry one of these souls for 9 months inside your own energy field, it can also influence you in that direction — towards a spiritual awakening or a heightening of your gifts.
This can often happen when a woman is carrying an Arcturean or Nihal soul (these are 2 of the star seed groups… in my book, ‘The 22 Star Seed Groups’, I talk more about all of the different groups present here on Earth.) Arctureans are highly evolved spiritual healers and Nihal souls are commonly known as ‘indigo children’ or crystal children because of the psychic gifts they exhibit. Carry one of these souls inside your own energy field for 9 months and it may push you towards a spiritual awakening of your own.
Let’s have a look at another reason for motherhood kickstarting a woman’s psychic awakening:
2. Birth trauma & Postpartum brain changes
Obviously not all births go well, and extreme stress & trauma can awaken intuitive abilities (this applies especially when a person is already an empath.)
How does this occur?
When we go through a trauma (aka something life threatening, that is too overwhelming for the brain to process at the time it occurs), it can cause a weakening of our boundaries on the level of our energy field, and we become more porous. And when the energy field becomes more porous, we become more sensitive and open to the unseen world. When this happens, if you’re an empath, you’ll likely become more empathic and sensitive. Your abilities will be heightened.
So, that can be a factor for some new mothers.
Then add into the equation the profound changes on the level of the brain that occur in new mothers, which appear to encourage heightened awareness of one’s infant and his/her needs, and these can also contribute to heightened empathic abilities (if a woman is already an empath), regardless of whether the birth was traumatic.
For some women, these changes can temporarily weaken the energy field, and when that happens, it can make a person more open to the spirit realm than they were before.
Have you experienced an increase in your intuition after you became a mum? If so, why do you think this was? Please leave a comment below if you have something to share.
Actually, I was always largely in denial about my gifts until my daughters turned 20 and 22 (thereabouts) and began to develop their psychic gifts with no qualms whatsoever! I saw both their lives change for the better and dropped my old carapace and have not looked back since. Before this time I received vivid dreams of guidance, but denied the rest out of some sort of fear.
After having my son almost 3 years ago, I often found that all the well meant advice from every one around me about what was best for our son, did not ring true with me, and they did not have the intended effect on our son. But when we did what felt right, it worked for all of us. But it was/is often against what many believe to be “the best”, so we have met a lot of raised eyebrows for e.g. letting our son sleep in our bed. I have really come into contact with my own truth, which has made me believe in myself and listening to my own needs, which I have struggled with my whole life.
Irene – that’s great that you were able to trust your own guidance about what was best for you and your family. Thanks for sharing!
Catherine – Interesting that your daughters helped to catalyse the development of your gifts. Very cool!
