In 2006, I was living in Dijon, France and had a job teaching English at the University of Burgundy.
There wasn’t as much on the internet back then but there were some personal development blogs and resources that I found and in the evenings after my teaching job, I used to enjoy reading these blogs.
I remember one evening typing in to a search engine ‘Ask Jeeves’ – ‘why am I such a perfectionist?’ I was looking for a resource that could explain it to me.
This was something I struggled with very much — I needed to do everything perfectly and I felt shame about not being ‘good enough’.
I never did find clear answers as to why I struggled with perfectionism in 2006. I only came away with a sense that something was ‘wrong’ with me for being so tightly wound and the shame deepened. Shame around not feeling good enough and shame around being a perfectionist, too! (A double whammy of shame.)
But a year later when I was living and teaching in Spain I had the chance to get an Akashic Record reading, and I found out why I struggled with perfectionism.
Conventional wisdom would say I struggled with perfectionism because I grew up in a narcissistic family. That makes total sense.
But there was a deeper level to where the perfectionism came from, that I could have missed without the Akashic Record reading, and it was linked to my soul gifts.
The reading told me about two aspects of my soul’s identity:
1. My Archangelic realm of training and
2. My soul group of origin.
I’ll start with the second one — the soul group of origin.
My soul group of origin turned out to be Sirian, and the most defining trait of a Sirian soul is their desire to improve — themselves, the world around them and certainly their own performance. They also worry that things will blow up in their faces if they ‘do it wrong’.
So, my soul gift is the desire to improve, but the shadow side of that is perfectionism — taking that desire to improve to extremes, which does sometimes happens for the conscientious Sirians.
And then the Archangelic realm of training also shed light on this perfectionistic attitude I had.
Just a bit of background on what the Archangelic realm of training is:
When our souls are newly birthed, we spend time in one of eight realms of training. These 8 realms are realms that embody energies that we encounter here on Earth, and they correlate loosely with the 8 main chakras. And each realm is presided over by an Archangel.
We spend time in one chosen realm as a soul and then the energies of that realm become a part of us.
The realm that I’d spent time in was the 3rd realm, which is the realm of balance, aesthetics, justice and perfection.
So the most two defining aspects of my soul showed a tendency towards seeking perfection, and this is the shadow side of my soul gifts.
The soul gifts themselves have been very useful in my career because I do strive to excel and improve on existing systems and processes. For example, when teaching students how to clear spaces I don’t just tell them to do some smudging. Instead, I cover all bases. My courses are comprehensive and no one could call them too basic or a rehash or regurgitation of what’s been done before by others.
But the struggle is creating things, because then perfectionism kicks in and the adage “done is better than perfect” gets thrown out of the window and I can be prone to freezing.
If I had not had my Akashic Record reading, I would never know where these traits came from on a deeper level and that they also were helping me in my life and work. Instead, perhaps I’d still be in therapy trying to find the roots of my perfectionism in my childhood.
This is the value of having your Akashic soul record read by someone who knows how.
These two defining aspects of your soul profile — the soul group of origin and the Archangelic realm of training — can shed a lot of light on why you are as you are — so you can accept yourself.
I offer an affordable mini reading that tells clients which starseed group and which Archangelic realm they belong to. Put these two together and you have a clear portrait of who someone is on the soul level, including their gifts and what they may struggle with.
These mini readings are 10% off for the next 8 days and they can be booked here.
