In recent times, clients and students have shown me readings that they purchased, that have the unmistakable hallmark of AI rather than channelling. What happened in these cases is that the customer found an intuitive online or on Etsy, supplied info for a reading and then received an email PDF that was ‘feel good’ but which lacked substance and sounded like AI.
AI readings are on the rise, and this is because intuitive readings require skill, are hard work (cognitively speaking) and are not always convenient to do.
Here are the reasons for that:
1. As an intuitive, you need to do the work from a peaceful space. No kids, no dogs that won’t settle or kittens wrestling in the background. I live in urban Caacupé (Latin America is a noisy place) and if a neighbour plays music that I can’t block out with earplugs – that has a strong bass element to it – I cannot do a reading.
2. You may need to put aside whatever is going on in your own life. For example, if you’re upset or feeling really stressed, you need to settle those feelings before moving forwards.
3. If you’re a perfectionist like me, you’ll have to deal with worries of ‘doing it right’. No matter how experienced you are, you can still deal with perfectionism and worry because you really want to help your client and do a great job.
4. You then need to do the work of doing the reading. In the case of my Evolutionary Manifesting readings, for example, it can be genuinely hard work for my brain and psyche. I have to use my intuition and also my analytical skills to do detective work and put the past life story together.
I occasionally dream about people’s past life stories and gain more info that way, or I think about the info I gained and process it off the clock. Some would say this is bad boundaries, but it’s how I sometimes work. It can happen this way because I’m dealing with a lot of info that needs to be processed and understood.
5. Then I need to write it up and explain the findings well. I do have some filler text (email templates) to help me with explanations for my Evolutionary Manifesting readings, but the parts that I channel, I am explaining and writing in the moment.
It would be so much easier & quicker to put the customer’s reading info into AI and tell it, “give me a reading for this person that reflects their concerns.”
AI can even draw and interpret Tarot cards for you. AI generated readings can often make you feel good, and offer comfort and reassurance. But they are a waste of the client’s time and money, and a violation of trust.
In my view, it is out of integrity to be offering AI generated psychic or intuitive readings because clients can just put their info into a LLM like Chat GPT for free and get the same outcome. People sometimes make decisions based on the info they receive, and AI is not drawing on any spiritual sources, and therefore does not have enough insight to be taken seriously in this way.
My students are taught genuine techniques for gaining info intuitively and I receive info from the Akashic Records or from Spirit Guides – not from AI. I sit and work with pen and paper, noting down my findings before I put together my email readings.
I recommend asking readers: “Do you use any AI tools in your readings?” before purchasing. If they get defensive about the question, it’s a red flag. Readers should be open to answering questions about their process.
It is worth differentiating between genuine channelled findings that someone uses AI to structure, present or write out, and insights that are not channelled but AI generated. I wouldn’t necessarily write off the former scenario, although in my opinion, I don’t think it’s good practice (unless the reader is intentional about it and only uses AI for structuring text or proof reading) because if you let AI write the whole reading, AI puts its own spin on things and can distort the energy of the reading by changing your wording.
Here are the signs a channelled reading is AI generated:
1. This is not a sign on its own, but email readings are more likely to be AI, especially if you buy on a marketplace like Etsy. Even shops with thousands of sales and hundreds of reviews may not be genuine, because Etsy reviews can be purchased nowadays. On the other hand, there are genuine intuitives on Etsy. (I’ve trained some of them.)
2. The AI reading won’t tell you any hard truths or take any risks. Back when I did phone readings, people used to send me photos of for example, someone they’re thinking of dating. If I felt someone was trouble, I’d say so. I wouldn’t give a generic, risk-averse, feel good response, just for the sake of it. AI will, though. If you get several AI readings you’ll notice the reader isn’t going out on a limb or taking any bold risks in what they’re telling you in any of them. It’s all generic, feel good stuff.
3. The reader admits to doing it quickly. One of my clients who had a reading that turned out to be AI generated was told their long channelled reading was done in 10 mins. It takes 10 mins just to tune in and start getting info, never mind channelling a long reading and then putting it together as an email reading. Putting the client’s info into an AI program and copying and pasting what it spits out, on the other hand, could take 10 mins. Not everyone will be truthful about it, but asking your reader how long it takes them to channel can be revealing.
4. One reading I was shown had a hallucination in it. A reading that was AI generated made reference to a family pet that didn’t exist with a name that wasn’t mentioned. If you see info that looks like it’s for someone else or a name that isn’t yours slipped in somewhere, your reading was probably done with AI.
5. You see common AI phrasing, such as two contrasting pairs of adjectives together. Your romantic interest will be described as “strong but sensitive”, “funny but serious”, “curious but cautious”. Or, not this, but that.
6. The reading may contradict itself in places. AI easily loses track of its own narrative because it doesn’t always understand what it is saying or how it fits into the bigger picture of your situation.
If you’re after an intuitive recommendation for a general intuitive reading such as Tarot or channelling, let me know (Anna at annasayce.com). I only do Akashic Readings and Evolutionary Manifesting readings so I don’t do a general reading, but I can recommend intuitives I have trained or worked with myself. The recommendation will be genuine and I do not get any kickbacks for recommending people.
Intuitive readings can sometimes be hard work but they are also immensely rewarding and preferable to many other kinds of work, at least for me. I don’t have to labour in the midday sun or deal with difficult people (hardly ever, at least.) Instead, I get to sit in my house and bask in the high vibrations of the Akashic Records. Reading on peoples’ past lives is endlessly fascinating and I learn a lot about history in the process. I am grateful for being able to do this work.
