In this post, I want to share a reading I did for a woman I’m going to call “Sally”. Sally is someone who wishes to step into her spiritual calling full time and requested an Evolutionary Manifesting reading with me to look into any blocks she may have around this intention.
(Evolutionary Manifesting readings are comprehensive energetic assessments of any given intention that a client wishes to manifest. For example, if a client wants to be a full time intuitive but their manifesting work has not yielded dividends and they feel blocked, this reading can tell them why. It looks at past life blocks, whether the person currently has enough vital life force energy to manifest their intention, and more. It is also very solution oriented and lets the client know what needs to change in order to bring about their intention.)
Note: I explain more about past life blocks (or what I refer to as karmic complexes) in this article. If you’re new to this term, I recommend reading it first.
OK, so here’s an excerpt from her reading:
You had a lifetime as a priest in Mexico around 500 years ago.
You lived in a city beginning with ‘Ox’.
Your work as a priest was something you inherited from your family – it was in your family line. You had a name or a nickname as a priest that was something like ‘the one who has lightning coming out of his fingers’.
Although you were born into the work, it really suited you and you felt very connected to Divine Power when you did your rituals and summoned the deities. It was like you were plugged into a spiritual plug outlet and Divine Power ran through your body and that was why you had the nickname you did. Because of this, supernatural phenomena occurred during your rituals and you had the reputation of being someone who was a good manifester; who could call on the Divine and be answered. You could make things happen through spiritual means and you felt the power of the Divine. It was a very cool space to work from. I found that Tlaloc was the God of lightning for the Aztecs and I think you were skilled at channelling his power in your physical body.
One morning you woke up early to the sound of screaming and the smell of fire. Your city was being sacked by the Spanish. You usually did not go out without your priestly garb but you knew the city was being invaded and you chose not to wear it. You fled, dressed as a layperson/civilian. There was a body of water in the city and people were fleeing to it to try to get away from the soldiers. You went there, too. I think the soldiers followed because I saw blood in the water. They may have been firing arrows or gunshots into the water.
You prayed but no miracles occurred. The power had gone out of your fingers and you felt vulnerable.
You drowned in the lake not because you couldn’t swim but because someone else couldn’t swim and they used you to hold onto.
This past life self said to me:
“My abilities didn’t help me when it counted”
“I was abandoned by the Divine”
“I was stripped of my powers and abilities right at the moment I needed them – in the end they were only useful for useless stuff like random supernatural phenomena”
“How dare they do this to my people?”
“How is it that I wasn’t able to stop this or help?”
“Was any of it real?” (my abilities)
There is a profound, sudden, devastating loss of faith with this karmic complex. Also, anger and fury. The soldiers were brutal. I saw throat slitting and all kinds of barbarities.
The sense from this past life self is: spiritual abilities are not useful (for me or anyone else). Focus on something more practical. They won’t save you. There’s also a sense of skepticism (i.e. were the abilities even real?)
This is a past life self who feels he failed at keeping himself and others safe, hates himself for the failure and experienced a sudden, devastating wound to his self-esteem around his spiritual abilities and their utility.
So, the energies that characterise this karmic complex are: failure, self-loathing, depression, unworthiness and ingratitude (a sense that all the beautiful mystical experiences were a lie and were for nothing because of how that life ended).
I think that this karmic complex is impacting on your ability to step into your spiritual calling because I can see that it impacts on self-confidence at work, and also your confidence in your own self-expression. This complex also impacts on the chakra databank of planning/strategising at the third eye chakra. So, it looks like this past life sub character chips away at your confidence and does not want you to come up with plans to move ahead with your spiritual business.
He is protecting you from failure, trauma, loss of power and spiritual abandonment. He does not want you to go through the devastating losses he experienced, so he would prefer that you stay where you are and not move forward with your calling.
The reading also shared with her the most effective modality to overcome this karmic complex.
One of the most interesting things about doing an Evolutionary Manifesting reading for me these days is how much I am learning about history.
For example, I found the following after the reading:
1. The invasion of Mexico by the Spanish took place just over 500 years ago
2. Some of the captured Mexican cities were indeed on lakes and the people did flee into the lakes but the Spanish pursued them in canoes and killed them. There was a Nahuatl manuscript compiled around 1523, known as the ‘Cantares Mexicanos’ which is a lamentation written by survivors of the fall of the Aztec empire.
Here’s an excerpt from the Cantares Mexicanos:
“Our cries of grief rise up and our tears rain down…
The Aztecs are fleeing across the lake…
The water has turned red, as if it were dyed,
and when we drink it, it has the taste of brine.”
The Cantares Mexicanos also mirrored some of the flavours of the trauma of Sally’s karmic complex, such as: (“why were we, as spiritually empowered and connected people, so badly let down by God?”)
3. The priests who fled the invasion did so without their priestly garb to avoid attracting attention and becoming high value captives.
4. Nahuatl is an agglutinative language, meaning that instead of using separate adjectives, speakers strung together separate root words and prefixes to form one long highly descriptive word. So a name like “the one who has lightning coming out of his fingers” was typical. And Aztec priests did aim to channel the power of the Gods, such as the God of lightning.
5. The Spanish were slitting throats all over the place during that invasion.
It is very interesting to learn about history from the inside experiences of those who lived it…
…Even if it is not always pleasant to witness what is going on.
We carry dozens of forgotten lives inside us like this, and some of them haunt us with their own traumas. But we don’t have to remain stuck in their trauma loops. We can clear what is holding us back, but first we need to know where it comes from and how it affects us.
Something that I have noticed is a core trauma for those who want to develop their psychic abilities or their spiritual gifts is that in past lives, their gifts failed them at a key moment and ended in their demise. But the fact is, we all have a limited amount of time on this Earth. Psychic abilities can help us to live well, and avoid danger in many cases but they cannot stop us from meeting our maker if it is time. But past life selves who are spiritually or psychically gifted can end up feeling ashamed and abandoned when their gifts don’t help them in a dangerous situation or even actively work against them. Then when those past life selves do not cross over to the other side after death and remain unintegrated within us, they can feed us undermining advice that can be mistaken for intuition.
If you’d like to know if you are carrying anything within your soul that is stopping you from reaching a particular goal, you can book an Evolutionary Manifesting reading here.
