The person in the experiment was Hedy Lamarr, the American/Austro-Hungarian actress and inventor. Many of you guessed that she was an actress (and this could have been intuitive insight or it could have been gleaned from the style of photo that was posted!)

Acting Career

Hedy Lamarr was born Hedwig Eva Maria Kiesler in Vienna, Austria in 1914. She went to acting school in Berlin and began her acting career in Czechoslovakia. One of the first films she made was one called Ecstasy, in 1933, and it included the first scenes of a totally naked woman (i.e. Hedy) in a film, and also the first scene of a woman having a simulated orgasm. So that was quite scandalous for the time.

She married for the first time aged 18 to Friedrich Mandl, an arms dealer who was 30 years her senior. He reportedly disapproved of her previous acting work and decided that Hedy was not going to be allowed to act anymore. Instead she became a society wife and hosted parties for her husband. In those parties, she came into contact with ‘high society’ people and political figures such as Hitler and Mussolini.

She decided that life with her controlling husband was not for her and left him a few years later. She said he was so controlling that he kept her prisoner in their home and she had to escape the marriage by disguising herself as a maid and moving to Paris, where she got a divorce.

While living in Paris, she visited London where she met Louis B. Mayer, the head of the Metro-Godwyn-Mayer studio, and he signed her as an actress. She moved to Hollywood and starred in films such as Algiers, Ziegfeld Girl and Samson and Delilah.

Contributions to Science   

Hedy Lamarr was also a brilliant inventor, although she is remembered more for her contributions to film than to science. Around the beginning of the Second World War, she co-invented and patented something that is still used today in wireless technology. It’s a bit complicated to explain but you can read about the ins and outs of it here.

Personal Life

Hedy Lamarr was married (and divorced) 6 times and had 3 children. From what I understand from various biographies, her personal life was not always very happy.

She spent many of the latter years of her life alone and isolated, and she died in 2000 at the age of 86.

Memoir

Researching Hedy Lamarr can be a bit tricky because there is potentially some misinformation about her in the public domain.

In 1966, a memoir was published and ghost written about her. She collaborated with the publishers but apparently didn’t read the text or receive any of the profits. She later said that the memoir was full of fabrications and she tried to get it pulled from sale, but she was unsuccessful.

The memoir was full of all kinds of titillating information (such as stories from her sex life and claims she was a nymphomaniac) but she says it was false.

I do get the sense that although her beauty facilitated success in her acting career, her life was in some ways made more difficult by how she looked, and she was often exploited by men in the entertainment industry.

She claimed that her beauty was a curse, saying “my face has been my misfortune” and that her face was “a mask I cannot remove. I must live with it. I curse it.”

How to improve when it comes to reading people

1. Practise! The more you practise, the more info you receive on how you actually receive intuitive insights and if you’re not doing so well, on where you might be going wrong.
2. Make sure you’re in a relaxed state when you channel. Most accurate guidance comes when you’re in the alpha state.
3. Raise your vibration before tuning in (I talk about this more in my Intuitive Awakening Course, which is currently on sale at 50% off)
4. Come at these experiment with an energy of fun and lightness. That makes it much easier to receive accurate info. If you come at it with a serious energy of ‘I must get this right’ or ‘I’m not sure if I’m any good at this and need to prove to myself that I am’, you’re less likely to do well because those kinds of approaches will contract your energy field and make it harder to receive accurate info.
