Try These Two Exercises To Develop Your Psychic Abilities

If you want to develop your psychic abilities, you could read some books or read my articles on the different clairs, like clairvoyance, claircognizance or clairaudience, for example.

But maybe you’re not sure if you want to invest any time in it yet. Or perhaps you feel like doing some psychic development exercises for fun…

Here are two easy peasy psychic development exercises you can start off with. You don’t have to do hours of practice in order to see results.

Exercise #1: Telepathic Messages – Get Someone to Call You

You know those times when you just ‘know’ who is calling you on the phone? Or when you call someone and they say “Oh wow, I was just about to call you – we must be psychic!”

My grandmother and I do that a lot. I ring my grandmother perhaps once a month, or maybe less at the moment (being rather busy). When I rang her last time, she told me that she kept thinking about me earlier on, on the day I rang. That sometimes happens.

I bet you’ve had experiences like that too.

How Does This Work?

It’s because you are thinking – consciously or subconsciously – of calling that person. You’re sending out energetic signals of your intention. It may not actually result in you calling them, but you think about it, and that is enough for those energetic signals to reach that person. If they’re sensitive they will pick up on these signals and start thinking about you for no reason, and maybe they’ll call you. All of this is usually unconscious – not done purposely but you can also make it conscious.

Here are some steps to do this:

1. Decide on somebody you’d like to get back in touch with, or someone that you do not speak to on a regular basis. This is preferably someone with whom you have a rapport and some kind of ongoing friendship.

(Note that it’s not a good idea to use this exercise to attempt to get back with an ex who doesn’t want to hear from you or someone from your past who you know doesn’t want to be reminded of your past together. So ask yourself if you want to get in touch with the person and if they are likely to want to get in touch with you!)

2. Begin by doing a breathing exercise – breathe in to the count of four, hold your breath to the count of four and exhale to the count of eight. Repeat two more times.

3. Close your eyes and see a movie screen in your mind’s eye (the mind’s eye is what you see when you try to visualize something – for example, visualize the face of a loved one – and it shows up in your mind’s eye.)

4. Then do the following exercise (which is from the book Psychic Development for Beginners by William Hewitt)

Visualize yourself standing in a big park, on a large green lawn, holding seven balloons, of the colours red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet and indigo. Let the balloons go one by one, beginning with the red balloon. Watch them float up to the blue sky until they disappear before you release the next one.

(If you’re not used to visualizing, then this exercise could be quite difficult for you at first. You may find it hard to concentrate or it may be difficult for you to visualize vividly or in colour. It all depends on how developed your imagination muscles are.)

5. Then get rid of the balloons. Now see a cinema screen in your mind’s eye. In one corner of the screen, see a telephone. In the other corner, see your friend. See your friend picking up the telephone happily and asking you how you are. See yourself enjoying a conversation with your friend.

6. Do this once a day for five days, at the same time and see what transpires.

Exercise #2: Knowing the Time

One way to start developing your psychic ability is to start guessing the time. Discard your watch as much as is practical and when you need to know the time, close your eyes and ask yourself what the time is. See if a time pops into your head and if it is accurate. It’s best to go with the first thought that comes into your head (it’s not good to even think about this – you need to trust the very first thought you have almost before your conscious mind starts operating.) It can be uncanny how accurate this can be – right down to the minute.

Even though you may feel unaware of time passing, at certain points in your day, your Higher self can tap into the time and calendar anyway and let you know the time.

Another way to develop an awareness of your inner clock is to set an intention to wake up at a certain time (it is perhaps best to do this on weekends when you don’t necessarily need to get up.)

Here’s what to do:

1. Choose the time you want to wake up (Note: depending on your personality, you might want to choose a time that is reasonable for you – for example, if you never get up before 8am but intend to get up at 6am for the sake of this exercise, you might sabotage yourself if you’re very tired and you like sleeping in. If your true desires do not align with your intention, your Higher self might automatically substitute the real time you want to get up.)

2. Then tell your Higher self that you want to get up at that time and ask for your Higher self to wake you up at this time. For example – 8am. To strengthen the intention, you might want to give your reason why.

3. Don’t set your alarm.

4. See what time you wake up.

    Funny – these are both exercises I’ve had experience with. Today, I just got back in touch with somebody I’d not talked to for months. I was thinking about him the other day, and he told me today he’d been asking his friend if I still played the MMORPG I met him at.

    I also wake myself up in the morning by setting the intention to wake up at a certain time. I do have to say – it doesn’t really matter what time you usually wake up, chances are you *will* wake up at the time you intend… you just might not get up.

    I’ve been doing it for years. I used to wake myself up a couple of hours before I had to get up – I loved nothing more than seeing I still had a few hours to sleep! – but now the only problem is because of it, I’m so used to it I can’t sleep through the night anymore. That’s something I’m working on with intention now, though, and I no longer wake up so often.

    Nice suggested exercises. Love the practice of incorporating psychic awareness effortlessly into our daily lives.

    I’ve been doing a variation on exercise 2 for a while now. For some reason, I’ve always liked the number 3 and especially the number 33. Three or four years ago I started really noticing whenever 33 would appear in my life – on the clock, the side of a truck driving by, the waiting number I’m given in line at the post office – whatever.

    It seems like my enjoyment in seeing 33 pop up caused it to do so even more often – as if now my intuition knows to impulse me at the exact moment when I can see a 33. This now happens several times a day every day. The most common examples are pausing the music on my ipod at exactly 33 seconds into a song, setting a timer for something and checking it’s progress at exactly 33 seconds/ minutes left to go and continually check the time on clocks or my cell phone at exactly 33 minutes past the hour.

    I find this to be a fun daily reminder of how my intuition is always connected and aware of what’s going on around me in the physical world. It helps me be more aware of and responsive to intuitive impulses that I get about things besides seeing 33’s as well 🙂

    Hi Dusty, that’s a good point that you can still set the intention to wake up early but if you can go back to sleep again after that then you might. I know what you mean, I love waking up at 5am and seeing I have another couple of hours left to sleep!

    Adrianne – it’s funny how the more you notice specific numbers, the more they pop up! I wonder if 3 actually means something specific for you or if it’s a more general impulse from your intuition..Btw enjoyed reading about your story on your blog, looking forward to the next one!

    Anna, 3 actually does have a lot of significance for me according to numerology. It’s both my “destiny number” and also the number of my greatest challenge in life! It was really interesting to discover this a few years ago after having seen 3’s around so often.

    Yes I found writing out my story to be quite therapeutic. I didn’t know what I was going to write about until I actually started writing, and then it all came out in the perfect order. As if it was already written and I just needed to type it out… 🙂

    Nice of your reader to do that! I do find numerology to be very interesting.

    From looking at that article, it seems that you have an 11/2 destiny number (represents what you’re here to do in life). The destiny number is what you get when you add together all the numbers of the letters in your full name at birth. 11 is actually often referred to as the psychic’s number. People with that number are supposed to be naturally very intuitive. The form of the number is said to represent a gateway between the spiritual and material realms. Pretty neat, huh? 🙂

    Love that feeling you describe where it’s like the article already exists at some level of reality and we just need to tune in to it.

    One time, I was thinking of an online friend and how we used to have fun on this one forum so I went and created a new username and started replying to random posts and then she showed up on the same day. We had both been gone from the forum for a long time and we return on the same day. I thought that was weird. I also have this thing where if I tell myself that I have to be up by 5 the next morning I would actually wake up a couple of minutes before 5. It happens all the time.

    Well,it’s funny though. I can’t do any of that above but for the time,before I even read this I could do this sometimes. When I woke up,I could guess the time.(well about there) but for the waking up myself,I could do sometimes. I always said I want to wake up at 6am or latest 6.30am to go exercise so it won’t be very hot in the afternoon,and true enough without alarm clock,I woke up in between of 6am and 6.30am! Well I don’t know whether is okay for opening skills for psychic but it’s really rare that I could do this because it’s been a long time since I woke up on the time I wanted. Its been like months or about a year since I did that.

    I have always felt I have a six sense, like between me and my sister. There are times we are talking about each other to someone else, like I will be saying her name to a friend she will call or she will be saying my name to someone and I’ll call. We also sometimes dress alike without talking to each other or one of us will be thinking about the other and we will text or call and find out one of us was trying to reach the other. The last two times I wanted my boyfriend to come see me I’ll try to reach him through his mind and he will show up. Also I know when something isn’t right, I’ll have this gut feeling something is wrong with someone I love and then I’ll find out I’m right. I love having my abilities.


    I can think of someone and they call or I see them. But then there are some people I can think of and want to hear from and they don’t call.
