Why is it that so many conscious creators struggle to consciously manifest their desires, to the point that some of them give up and decide that manifesting is not for them? (and may even be a scam!)
The reason for the struggle is often a past life block (otherwise known as a karmic complex). In this article I’m going to cover:
- What a karmic complex is
- What it is like to manifest with a karmic complex active in your soul
- And how you can release any blocks so that you can finally manifest what you desire in life.
What is a karmic complex?
A karmic complex is a term coined by the late past life regressionist Roger Woolger.
It refers to a wound (residing in a person’s subtle energy bodies) which has its origins in a past life. This past life wound creates subconscious limiting beliefs and causes people to attract experiences that resonate with the negative content of their karmic complex (since we manifest our world according to what we transmit through our energy field and our subconscious mind, which is part of the energy field.)
An example of a karmic complex would be:
“I am unloveable and people reject me.”
Such a karmic complex would cause us to attract experiences of rejection, and see the world through that lens of “everyone wants to reject me”.
Manifesting teachers often tell their students that they can change such a limiting belief simply by affirming the opposite, such as “I am always accepted and loved”.
However, if we do indeed have a karmic complex residing in our energy field like “I am always rejected” which is contradicting and cancelling out our positive affirmation that “people love and accept me”, affirming in this positive way is going to feel like swimming against the current. It’s going to feel hard and we will probably sense that there is something blocking us, making the positive idea feel untrue.
Affirming positively in this way when we have a karmic complex that contradicts our positive affirmation is like mowing over a weed on a lawn. (In this metaphor, the weed is the limiting belief arising from the karmic complex, and the lawn is our subconscious mind.)
In order to stop that weed (the negative belief and thoughts) from continually popping up, we have to keep ‘mowing’ and we have to do it a lot. (The ‘mowing’ in this metaphor is the manifesting work we do).
This means essentially needing to do ongoing manifesting work just to neutralise that limiting belief temporarily, without creating any lasting change. This is a process that can become quite overwhelming and exhausting, and in itself it can generate a negative state of being (i.e. being fed up) that does not help us to manifest our desired intentions.
There is another way. People with karmic complexes do not have to continually mow those weeds.
The other way…
…is to identify and resolve any karmic complexes that stand in our way of manifesting our desired intentions. And then we finally can manifest our desires because nothing is blocking us.
By the way, here are some signs you have a karmic complex:
- You keep encountering the same unwanted situation in life over and over
- You can’t seem to have what you see others having, despite wanting it very much
- You’ve been working on manifesting your desired outcome for some time (3-6 months) and it has not come to pass, nor do you feel any change in your inner world or self concept
- You have a desire you would like to manifest but you struggle to use manifesting techniques consistently (maybe you only do them once or twice per week) and this sabotages your progress
- You feel like you cannot have your desire — you feel thwarted
- You also feel like you cannot be happy unless your desired intention manifests
- You’re ill, or you haven’t got the energy for regular manifesting techniques
- You have experienced a lot of trauma in the past.
Not all of these need apply, but if you identify with at least 2 of the statements above, it is a sign that your path of conscious creation is being blocked by a karmic complex.
Karmic complexes require very specific healing techniques in order to be resolved.
For resolving them, based on my experiences with clients, I always recommend a particular form of past life regression (called Deep Memory Process) and/or Neville Goddard’s revision technique.
But what happens if you don’t know you have a karmic complex and instead just use manifesting techniques for a long time?
One of two things will happen:
Scenario one: The manifesting work will allow a ‘bridge of incidents’ to unfold, to bring about your intention in 3D reality. Part of that bridge of incidents will involve you realising that you need to do some healing work, and then you do it. Once you’ve done that work, you are able to manifest your desire.
Scenario two: The same scenario as above — you use conscious creation techniques and as part of the bridge of incidents, you’re prompted by your higher self to do the necessary healing work, but you do not heed that call.
This second scenario is one that can be seen all over the internet, particularly on YouTube. I know of conscious creation influencers on YouTube who teach people to manifest solely through affirmations and visualisations. They advise their followers not to do healing or inner work because it’s not necessary.
Yet when you dig a little deeper, they have not been able to manifest their desires themselves, and this is a situation that has been going on for years. The reason for this is that they have something blocking them, but they insist on not looking at it because doing so would contradict what they believe and teach about manifesting!
As for the first scenario, where the person in question DOES heed the call to do some inner work, the manifesting work they did would have been like the petrol that they put into their car (and the car is the person.) That petrol will still have got the person to their destination, but since they had a karmic complex, they needed to make a detour first.
This is the scenario I have found myself in — using manifesting techniques and then being prompted suddenly to do the inner work that I didn’t even know I needed to do. Then my desires showed up in my life.
It isn’t easy to use conscious creation techniques to consciously manifest a desired outcome when you have a karmic complex. You have to be very determined.
If for example, you have a karmic complex which resonates with “I am always rejected”, using an affirmation like “I am always accepted” will cause a lot of resistance. Contradicting your limiting belief is hard work and many people cannot keep it up. Those who keep it up need to white knuckle through their discomfort/sadness/anger or whatever comes up, and recognise it for what it is.
When we have a karmic complex, we also have an unintegrated past life self from a past life who is trying to protect us in some way.
So, for example, if you were rejected in a past life (maybe you went off to war and you came back to find your sweetheart had married someone else) the trauma of that experience causes the past life self to die with unresolved issues. The past life self doesn’t heal fully from that experience on the other side, and carries those unresolved issues into the next life.
This past life self, rather than being at peace and integrated inside you with all of their lessons and memories, is unintegrated and talking to you. Past life selves can influence us, making us feel a certain way and giving us certain unhelpful behaviours and compulsions. So, the person who has a karmic complex involving rejection would have an unintegrated past life self who is saying things like “don’t trust her — she’s probably lying” (when there is no basis for this) and “you’re not the kind of person anyone wants to be involved with”.
This past life self isn’t purposely being mean like some kind of evil past life ghost — instead he or she is desperately trying to protect the person from re-experiencing what they themselves went through and so they feed that person limiting self talk to keep them safe. In the area of relationships, this could manifest as being really hesitant to express interest in a potential romantic partner for fear of rejection, or being full of suspicions and doubts (without any basis) when one is in a relationship, in case their partner might be cheating.
The past life self wants us to stay safe. It does not want us to overcome our karmic complex — to do so feels unsafe. This is why using conscious creation techniques can feel hard when we have a karmic complex. We will have a past life self who is not on board with what we’re doing.
(This feeling of resistance and sabotage will be even more pronounced if the karmic complex is severe.)
Using manifesting techniques with a severe karmic complex active will feel like walking up a steep hill when you’re not very fit, while the wind is blowing in your face and heavy horizontal rain is coming at you.
It will be really easy to give up.
The solution to all of this is to identify and resolve any karmic complexes which may be standing in your way of manifesting your desired outcome (that is, if you do resonate with the signs mentioned above.)
Not all conscious creators need to consider karmic complexes — if you’re new to conscious creation, instead I suggest starting with a routine of daily techniques and then see what happens next. If you’ve not seen any change inwardly or outwardly within 3-6 months, it may be time to consider that something could be blocking you.
