How Can I Step off the ‘Karmic Wheel’ & Avoid Reincarnating Again on Earth?

To be clear, I’m not suggesting with this article that human life is not worth living!

But this is a question that I’ve had over the years on and off (especially from certain soul groups who originate in utopian worlds and who do not like being here.)

Let’s face it, earth is a place of polarity — it has both light and dark, which means that all of us will inevitably suffer in various ways.

So, how can we avoid earthly suffering and even stop incarnating here?

I am going to answer that in this article for anyone who is interested in this question. It is very much linked in to my new Evolutionary Manifesting course that is coming out early next year.

A couple of years ago, I don’t believe I would have been able to write about this or answer the question. These days, I feel confident in my views about it, although as with anything on this blog, take what resonates with you and leave the rest!

I believe that this life is an earthly ‘simulation’ that is set up by our own souls, to enable us to raise the quality of our consciousness and evolve.

(You can learn more about evidence for the simulation theory in physics here.)

I don’t believe we are souls in a body, I believe we are a body in a soul. This earth plane is what the Buddhists call ‘maya’ — illusion.

We create all of it, and what is around us, based on what we’re carrying in our subtle energy bodies. The content of our subtle energy bodies is writing the ‘code’ that underlies our reality. If we want to change the reality, we first need to change the ‘code’ that we’re writing through our energy (as Neville Goddard said, “there is nothing to change but self”. What he meant by this is that if we want to change our external world, we first have to change ourselves.)

I agree with the Christian mystics such as Neville Goddard that we have a creative spark inside of us that is God, and we are here to partly learn how to create our lives like the Gods that we are.

But back to the beginning…

We begin our life as souls by absorbing certain energies (sometimes this happens in places other than earth). The first several incarnations and the place where we spend them leaves an imprint on our soul — this could be called the ‘world of origin’ or ‘soul group of origin’, although some believe it isn’t an actual world of origin but just an environment on the ‘other side’ that imbues us with certain energies.

For example, if you are a Pleaidian soul, you will be imprinted with dynamic, forward-thinking, goal-oriented, speedy, inspirational energies. Your motto will be “just do it!”. All soul gifts have a downside so in addition to this, you’ll probably be impatient and you may also be so motivated to reach goals that you’re more open to engaging in shady dealings because you feel ‘the end justifies the means’.

Once your soul has developed its character in this way, it then sets off on an earthly journey over many lifetimes to recover the energies it lacks. This is about learning “life lessons” or as I sometimes call it – ‘collecting God’s energies’. The soul does this through polarities, including positive and negative experiences, (which is where the potential for suffering on the earth plane originates.)

In the example of the Pleaidian soul above, that soul is probably going to be learning (amongst other things) patience, the importance of slowing down and doing a good job, and perhaps in some cases, the importance of doing things ethically, too.

I call this “collecting God’s energies” because God or Source is everything — every energy out there. But as souls, we are not. We specialise in some energies and lack others. This earthly journey over lifetimes is about collecting the energies we lack, through experience. Earthly experience changes us subtly on the soul level, and allows us to integrate all of the different energies (through life lessons.) As we do this, we become more complete and ‘God like’.

But as we go through this process over many lifetimes, we tend to also collect what the Hindus call “samskara” — negative tendencies from past life wounds — which impact how we see the world and what we manifest into our lives. (I also sometimes refer to these as past life karmic complexes.) These tendencies are stashed away in our energy bodies and if we have them, they are also writing the ‘code’ that is underlying our 3D reality, and broadcasting energies that bring us unwanted situations in the 3D. They can also clash with our desired intentions that we are manifesting, and cause us to manifest nothing (or the opposite of what we want.)

These negative tendencies are unconscious, although we will see clues in our dream state and we will definitely see the results of them in our life circumstances.

Here are some examples of unconscious negative tendencies that people come into the world with:

“If I speak up for what I want, I’ll lose my partner/loved one”

“My father was right about me — I am worthless”

“I always fail”

These tendencies are caused by past life trauma that is unresolved. (And the reason some of us are incarnating this time around is to resolve these complexes and move beyond them.)

To explain the mechanics of how these past life wounds come back to haunt us, I want to share an experience I had:

Many years ago, I had an astral projection experience in a dream where I dreamed I asked God what it is like to die. (I described the experience in this blog post.)

When I was shown what it was like to die, I shot out of my heart chakra and followed a path upwards to the afterlife. I was restricted from going all the way because it was not my time to die, and when I looked back and I saw my human body napping on the bed with my cat next to me, it struck me that my body was like a heavy fur coat that I had to wear in the summer. I felt so light and happy to be free of it.

‘The heavy fur coat’ that I’d left behind temporarily on the bed were my subtle energy bodies, such as the etheric body and aspects of my emotional and mental bodies. They were heavy to me back then because they were full of samskara — karmic complexes.

These subtle energy bodies normally dissolve at death, and if we have a bad death (such as an accident, suicide or murder) or if we have particularly unpleasant karmic complexes that we never resolve in our lifetime, these remnants of the energy bodies may stay close to the earth plane (as an earthbound spirit). But for many souls after death, these bodies dissolve and we move over to the other side.

But here’s the thing — the next time we get into a body, we take on the same subtle energy bodies.

They aren’t cleaned from one lifetime to the next. So, if we have a past life wound/karmic complex active, that will be reactivated the next time we’re in a body and we will in fact choose our family, location, and early life circumstances according to it.

Then our early childhood re-imprints us further according to the karmic complex, and we are affected by it as we go through our lifetime.

Here are the signs you carry a karmic complex:

  • Abusive parents or family
  • A high ACE score
  • Illness (although illness is not a reflection of negative past life karma in every case)
  • Pain and suffering (emotional, mental, spiritual, physical)
  • Depression and/or other mental health struggles
  • Addiction
  • Abuse
  • Bad luck and misfortunes that seem to come out of nowhere
  • Multiple cycles of things going really well in life and then losing it all, and having to start again
  • Financial struggles
  • Unfulfilling relationships
  • Loneliness
  • Feeling disconnected from one’s life purpose
  • Not enjoying life
  • Struggling to manifest one’s desires or to even keep up a conscious creation practice
  • A strong interest in past lives

I agree with Tibetan Buddhists and Hindus that we will not stop incarnating until we resolve these tendencies or karmic complexes. But by that point, life won’t be as painful and so we will be less motivated to get off the karmic wheel anyway. (When I encounter a soul who deeply wants to stop incarnating here, I know this is what it is about. They are stuck in a karmic complex and they’re tired.)

I don’t believe in these theories because they sound good to me or someone else told me to.

I came to believe in them over a period of about twenty years after seeing the principles in evidence in my own life and soul’s path, and then also seeing them at play in my clients’ lives. Spirit has taught me over time that the Buddhists and Hindus are right about some things when it comes to the afterlife. At least, this is my truth, based on what I have seen and experienced. And it is a truth that has brought me to a very fruitful place in my own life.

A quote from the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying:

“Padmasambhava (the 8th century Indian Buddhist teacher) said: “If you want to know your past life, look into your present condition; if you want to know your future life, look at your present actions.”

I believe that where we are right now in our lives is a faithful reflection of all we have done, said, thought and felt in past lives.

If we’ve done, said, thought and felt negative things a lot in past lives, we’ll see evidence of that in our life now.

But all of this can be shifted and I believe now is the best time in history to do it.

I refer to the karmic complexes that we carry as ‘past life karmic complexes’ but the fact is, they are not really past. In this human body, we experience earthly space and time, but if you were to pop out of your body (like I did on that day I took a nap on the bed with my cat) you’ll find there is no time or space. It is all happening now. Our lives, past, present and future are super-imposed over one another and impacting on one another (and there is also some evidence of this in physics with retrocausality.)

So, if you want to change the quality of your ‘future’ lifetimes and get off the karmic wheel, you need to change the content of what has led you up to this point. And you will either do this by changing your past lives, or by changing what has happened to you in this life.

The content of our past lives can be altered through certain types of past life regression.

The content of what has happened to us in this lifetime can be changed through revision.

The New Thought teacher and author Neville Goddard said this:

“Man and his past are one continuous structure. This structure contains all of the facts which have been conserved and still operate below the threshold of his surface mind. For him it is merely history. For him it seems unalterable — a dead and firmly fixed past. But for itself, it is living — it is part of the living age.

He cannot leave behind him the mistakes of the past, for nothing disappears. Everything that has been is still in existence. The past still exists, and it gives — and still gives — its results. Man must go back in memory, seek for and destroy the causes of evil, however far back they lie. This going into the past and replaying a scene of the past in imagination as it ought to have been played the first time, I call revision — and revision results in repeal.

Changing your life means changing the past.

The causes of any present evil are the unrevised scenes of the past.

The past and the present form the whole structure of man; they are carrying all of its contents with it. Any alteration of content will result in an alteration in the present and future.”

– Neville Goddard, the Law and the Promise.

But how do you change the past when you don’t even remember your past lives?

The fact is, there are clues all around you. Your dreams will give you clues (especially childhood dreams and repetitive dreams). Your current life will give you feedback about your past.

If you think you have a karmic complex but you’re unsure what it is, fill in the following blanks:

“I can’t ________”

“I always ________”

“I never ________”

(Those last two are from Patricia Walsh’s work.)

My upcoming course Evolutionary Manifesting will also teach people to pinpoint their karmic complex(es) and provide a clear and holistic roadmap to resolving them, that really works. This is how I radically changed my life and health.

Of course Evolutionary Manifesting is not the only way to do this. Many spiritual paths and religions have been concerned with this question for eons. But I believe this modality is a quick and clever way to do it.

A caveat…

I find it unlikely that anyone will get off the karmic wheel in one fell swoop by locating and resolving a karmic complex, simply because none of us bring through the full force of our past life karma — it would be crushing to do that. Most of us only bring through pieces of it in any given lifetime.

But many souls are bringing through these same pieces — these karmic complexes — time after time after time. (It took me 22 lifetimes of failing to resolve one of my complexes before I finally managed it in this life, and this kind of timeline is not unusual).

When we do resolve a complex like this, we find ourselves further along on that path of no longer needing to reincarnate. We may not be there yet, but we’re on our way.

We won’t come back to do the complex again in an attempt to find resolution – we can move onto the next stage of our soul’s journey. That is usually the best a soul can do in any given lifetime.

Most people are not going to do my Evolutionary Manifesting course because they want to stop reincarnating. The enquiries I’ve had about this course have been from people who are interested in this course because they either wish to manifest a desired outcome and they know they have a karmic complex that is blocking them, or they want to help others with their karmic complexes on a professional level.

But something interesting that I’ve noticed is that we’re given our desires (the ones we struggle to manifest) as motivation to overcome our karmic complex. If we didn’t have certain desires, there would be no need to overcome the complex, because we wouldn’t care about it.

In this way, manifesting desired outcomes and changing ourselves on the way there (“there is nothing to change but self”) allows the soul to evolve more quickly.

This is why I believe it is important to embrace desire and find out how we can get what we want in life. I don’t agree with the Buddhists that we should relinquish all desire in the first place (although this can be a helpful approach when we get to a certain stage in the journey, to release importance.)

We are pieces of God, on a journey back to God. Manifesting our desires allows us to become more God-like. And we don’t step off the karmic wheel until this process is complete.

This process of stepping off the karmic wheel is technically enlightenment; what the Hindus call ‘moksha’. I believe that manifesting/conscious creation indirectly leads us towards enlightenment.

Personally this is not something I am hankering after at this stage of my soul’s journey – inner peace and contentment on the earth plane is enough for me. But I understand the appeal for a world weary star traveller!

“…we’re given our desires (the ones we struggle to manifest) as motivation to overcome our karmic complex…”

I needed to hear this as someone who struggles against doing what I love, judging every impulse as not good enough.
