Hi Anna,

I am a medium who has had an earthbound spirit (a male) with me for many years. I have tried but cannot get this spirit to cross over into the light. I also attract lots of new spirits all the time. Can you help?

Hi Dolores,

I can definitely help — this is one of my specialties!

In my book The Empath’s Toolkit, I teach a simple method for helping ordinary earthbound spirits cross over into the light and I also give you a reliable and permanent method for avoiding these earthbound spirits in future.

This method that I teach is a really effective and beautiful ceremony for helping lost spirits to release their resistance and cross over. I’ve come across many methods for releasing spirits and I teach this one because it is the best technique I’ve ever seen.

Many techniques out there rely on saging (which makes spirits flee rather than help them to cross over), or they banish spirits or speak harshly to them, which does not make for a good result. The technique I teach is very loving and gentle, and it’s very rare for it to fail in helping earthbound spirits to cross over. It is also designed to be flexible for the spirit you’re dealing with, so that if it takes the spirit 30 seconds to cross over or if it takes 10 minutes, you can adapt the ceremony accordingly.

This method works 98% of the time. If the spirit that is with you still has not crossed over after you have used the ceremony I teach in my book, there are a few possibilities to look at, and each has a solution.

1. If the spirit that’s with you is not crossing over using the usual method I teach for releasing ordinary earthbound spirits, it’s possible you’re dealing with an enmeshed earthbound spirit (rather than an ordinary one)

That requires a more complex ceremony for releasing it. That’s something that I teach in my Intuitive Healing Program or if you contact me I can direct you to someone who is qualified to release this sort of spirit.

2. It’s also possible that if the spirit is not crossing over, it’s because you do not want him to go.

To help your earthbound visitor to cross over using the ceremony I teach in the Empath’s Toolkit, you have to be very assertive about it and you have to 100% want it to happen.

It may be that you are equally attached to this spirit as he is to you. You do need to do the ceremony for as long as it takes. Don’t take no for an answer, and honestly ask yourself if you want this spirit to leave you. The logical answer should be: yes, simply because, you are in danger of channelling this spirit when as a medium, you should only be channelling peoples’ deceased loved ones. There’s a danger that you could mistake the input from this spirit for other beings that you do want to channel, and the result is that you give inaccurate information to your clients.

So this is really important. Personally I would not want to be practising and working with clients knowing I have a random spirit attached to me.

After you’ve released the spirit, you should also use the 21-day prayer I give in my book for avoiding earthbound spirits. This is a prayer which reprograms your subconscious mind in terms of the spirits that you do and do not want to deal with. You only need to do it for 21 days and then you can avoid these spirits for life.

My students do not repeatedly bring in earthbound spirits without being able to prevent it, after using this method. If this is occurring for you once you have finished the 21-day prayer I give in my book (and make sure you really did do it for 21 days), it will be because on some level, you want to help these spirits cross over. It could be you have done this in a past life and spirits sense that you know what to do to help them, or it could be that you are a Third Order member.

If you think that’s the case, I recommend setting a clear intention (spoken out loud) that you have absolutely no interest in helping random earthbound spirits. Tell your guides and Higher self that you consider these spirits coming in to be like someone letting themselves into your home. This is what is happening on the energetic level, because your aura is your energetic space and you’ve got unwanted energies coming in. Tell your guides that it is not OK and you won’t allow it. You should be able to get guidance and work with your clients without being bothered by these spirits but you have to set a very clear boundary and be firm that you do not want it.

If you’re still attracting earthbound spirits after that, the remaining possible explanation is you use cannabis or you live with someone who does. More on that here.
