  • Are the Law of Assumption & the Law of Attraction Victim Blaming?

Are the Law of Assumption & the Law of Attraction Victim Blaming?

In this article I’m going to look at a criticism that was recently levelled at the Law of Assumption by a reader.

This person said that the Law of Assumption is victim blaming. And by practising it and taking responsibility for what I am creating in my life, I am blaming the victim (i.e. me) for anything unfavourable that happens to me.

Let’s take a look at this idea.

First of all, I’m going to say right off the bat that the Law of Assumption is essentially victim blaming, if you want to call it that. Let’s admit that upfront.

This is one of the reasons I did not fully accept the Law of Attraction (which is similar to the Law of Assumption) when I encountered it 15 years ago — I found it distasteful and victim blaming (and on top of that it wasn’t working for me!) and so I stopped using it and walked away from it.

How did that work out for me?

Not very well. I struggled with my mental and physical health a great deal in the years that followed. I experienced some success at work (although it seemed that some years I had to struggle a great deal for it), and I experienced a succession of failed relationships. My life was not thriving.

When my health reached its apex of awfulness back in 2021, I decided to do a science-based online program called DNRS which also uses the principles of the Law of Assumption to improve health. (This program is not explicitly marketed as being based on the Law of Assumption, but the 4 pillars of it match perfectly the principles of applying the Law of Assumption to improve one’s health.)

That program improved my health and I was able to leave behind a 22 year long problem with depression and S.A.D.

These results are what enabled me to let go of my concerns that the LOA is victim blaming. Simply because, when you finally have what you want in life — and you got it a certain way that made you feel good most days, and that brings no harm to yourself or to anyone else — you just accept that yes perhaps the Law is victim blaming, but it works. And it’s the only thing that has worked in my life to create the change I desired.

This result in eliminating depression was not a one off.

I applied the same principles to manifest improved physical health, a new home, an improved relationship with a problematic neighbour who was harassing me, and a business that was making more money. I also manifested smaller things such as a date with someone I liked, and an improved relationship with a pet!

    Is science victim blaming, too?

If we look at how I was able to create health using the Law of Assumption, we’ll see that these principles are not just philosophical ones — they are also backed up by science.

If you read Dr Candace Pert’s book Molecules of Emotion, you’ll discover that our thoughts and emotions affect our physical body, by signalling genes that create health (in the case of positive emotions and thoughts) or signalling genes which do the opposite (in the case of negative emotions and thoughts.)

The same scientific principles are seen in quantum physics experiments, where when a particular outcome is observed ahead of time, it collapses a wave and brings about that outcome afterwards — this is called ‘the observer effect’.

They are also seen in the placebo effect, which is essentially that when a person believes a certain idea, it affects the body. For example, you give someone knee surgery to fix a problem with their knee, except you only open their knee up and you don’t actually operate on it. The person doesn’t know they didn’t get the surgery, and they recover from their knee problem just as well as the people who had the same knee problem and did get the full surgery.

(This was a real scenario that was studied.)

Is the placebo effect victim blaming too, because you created your negative health outcome by believing something negative, or your positive health outcome by believing something positive?

Maybe. But we can’t get rid of the placebo effect — it simply is an established fact and there have been over 2000 studies which prove it exists.

You can read more about both the placebo effect and the observer effect in this article: How the Law of Assumption Works.

We can see the same phenomenon in other areas of life, too. For example, it is well known that people who were abused in childhood are more likely than people who haven’t been abused in childhood, to be abused in adulthood. Whatever impresses our subconscious in a big way, is what surely manifests and this is an example of that.

So for all these reasons listed above (including my own experiences), I believe that what we are imagining, thinking, assuming and believing creates reality. There is much evidence this is true when you look at the placebo/nocebo effect, and when you look at experiments in quantum physics.

The universe/Infinite Intelligence/God (choose your preferred term) is amoral. It doesn’t care what you think about the fact that this law is victim blaming. It just reflects back to you more of what you are focusing on and thinking. If you think the Law is victim blaming, it will give you more of the same and it will confirm to you that you are a victim of circumstances.

When you’re truly tired of being a victim to circumstances, and you’re ready to cast your distaste aside in the pursuit of what you want, try out the Law of Assumption. Don’t take my word or anyone else’s word for it. This exercise provides a way to get started.

    A caveat to this article:

If someone doesn’t believe that the Law of Assumption applies to their life, out of courtesy for their beliefs, I’m not going to impose it on them or tell them that they created their circumstances. I apply this philosophy to myself and my own life, and to those who willingly have applied it to their own lives (such as with my clients.) But I’m not going to tell someone they created circumstances they didn’t want. Only you can decide if this Law is something you accept as applicable to you.

  • This Is My Current Favourite Method for Quick Manifestation — (Inner Speech & Robotic Affirming)

This Is My Current Favourite Method for Quick Manifestation — (Inner Speech & Robotic Affirming)

If you’ve read my article series on the Law of Assumption, you may have heard that I am a big fan of using affirmations to create your ideal life.

In the beginning when I used them, I would sit down and just say a list of affirmations, and ‘feel into’ them. I would do that a few times per week and within a couple of months I noticed people were saying my affirmations back to me.

These days I am using affirmations in a different way that is much quicker for manifesting, and it is “robotic affirming“. In this article I’m going to talk about how to use this method.

Robotic affirming is essentially memorising affirmations, and saying or thinking them often.

How I came across robotic affirming

I first came across this method when a manifesting friend of mine told me she had used this technique to get a particular desire in the 3D that she had wanted for a long time but hadn’t achieved through other manifesting methods. When she used robotic affirming through her inner speech, in the 3D it finally materialised, and in a very short time.

Usually when we say affirmations, we’re seeking to FEEL the feelings associated with them. But with this method, we’re just saying words over and over, and persisting in that until our subconscious mind is convinced.

Note that we manifest according to the contents of our subconscious minds. When we are incarnated here, we receive vital life force from Source/the Creator/Infinite Intelligence (choose your preferred term) through our chakra system. We then condition that vital life force through the contents of our subconscious mind – so, that energy is altered by our beliefs, assumptions, identity, and the thoughts and feelings we are having that we identify with. That energy then goes back out into the Universe and our 3D reality rearranges itself to match what we are emitting the majority of the time.

So, if we want to create change in the 3D, we need to change the contents of our subconscious mind. The contents of our subconscious mind are composed of what we have thought, heard and learned about ourselves, our lives and the world up until now, that we have actually taken on board. For some of us, those ideas are negative. The good news is, the subconscious is very susceptible to suggestion. If we start thinking, saying and identifying with new thoughts, we can displace the old negative stories, within a matter of days or weeks.

So, that’s the value of this method – when we’re saying words over and over, the subconscious mind is listening and learning.

This method is actually something that Neville Goddard taught in his book, the Power of Awareness:

“Construct a sentence that implies the fulfillment of your aim, such as “I have a large, steady, dependable income, consistent with integrity and mutual benefit”, or “I am happily married”, “I am wanted”, “I am contributing to the good of the world”, and repeat such a sentence over and over until you are inwardly affected by it. Our inner speech represents in various ways the world we live in.”

    — Neville Goddard, The Power of Awareness

I tried this method myself and found it has a big effect on my mental and emotional state. As we know, states (I.e. who we are being, and the feelings and thoughts we are identifying with) are what manifest. When we are being the person who has our desire, that is when our desire can manifest in the 3D. Robotic affirming is a method that helps us ‘be’ that person.

    Here is the method:

    1. Identify times in your day when your mind is free to wander — ‘dead times’. Here are some examples of such times for most people:

    • Eating (if alone and not in conversation)
    • Cooking
    • Cleaning
    • Tidying
    • Laundry
    • Washing up
    • Walking/exercising
    • Driving
    • Taking public transport
    • Mindless hobbies such as knitting
    • Gardening/yard work
    • Showering

If you’re like most people you have at least a few hours of such time in your day. An interesting exercise to do is to observe what are your thoughts and the “stories” you’re running during these times? You will be creating the circumstances of your life partly during these ‘dead times’ when your mind is free to wander.

    2. Come up with affirmations for what you would like to create in your life

For example if you’d like to earn a new, higher salary, state that: e.g. “I earn $6000 every month”

To be in better health, state: “I am the healthiest I have ever been”

    Other examples:

“I have tons of energy from dawn until dusk”

“I am so happy we have found the perfect buyer for our house who has met the asking price”

“My relationship with X is thriving and we are so happy together.”

Ideally, come up with several affirmations that celebrate you having your desire. Think about what it would be like and how you would feel, and craft affirmations that express that.

Make sure to include a self-concept affirmation in there, such as “I deserve to receive so much from this life” or “I was always meant for great love/success/health/wealth.”

Memorise several affirmations and say them one after the other.

    3. Say those affirmations during the dead times when your mind is free to wander, for up to 3 hours per day.

Even if you say them for just 10 minutes per day, it is helpful, but for the best results, and to really saturate your subconscious mind as quickly as possible, you can say them for several hours per day during all the dead time you have available.

Note that you don’t have to say these statements out loud (most of the time I just say them in my head – aka my inner speech.)

If thoughts come up that are contrary to your intention while you’re affirming, just say to yourself “No, that is not my end result” and continue affirming.

Try to focus on what you are saying/thinking, while you are using this method. Don’t let the mind wander onto another topic.

    How this method works

All of us are manifesting all the conditions of our lives all of the time (as an aside, I believe the only exception to this is we do not manifest when people in our lives die.)

When we create our lives on autopilot, obviously we’re not sitting down and doing affirmations and visualisations. Instead what we do is we just think thoughts and feel feelings, and then we identify with or react to those thoughts and feelings. That is how we create and have created everything in our lives, when we’re doing it unconsciously.

If you use affirmations during all your dead time, you can very quickly displace old stories (thoughts, feelings and reactions) that you’re running in your head about your situation, which I believe is one of the reasons this method works as quickly as it does.

Let’s take the example of someone who is in debt, struggles to make ends meet and that has been their situation for years. Maybe every year this person (let’s call him “Andrew”) goes further and further into debt.

If Andrew pays attention to his thoughts and feelings, he will find that during his dead time, he is thinking things like “why can’t I ever get ahead?” “my situation is hopeless; I am powerless to make any changes” and “the system is rigged against people like me.”

If he substitutes these stories for positive affirmations or “inner speech” about money, those old stories are going to be halted temporarily, and so the descent into debt will also halt (of course with a time lapse, so maybe a few weeks or several weeks after he stops running the old stories.)

So this method can help to eliminate the harmful self talk that can keep us stuck in bad situations long term, and it enables us to “install” new, more positive stories into the subconscious mind.

If you want to see a change quickly, I recommend doing it for a week or two during your dead time, and then switch to another method, such as SATS. I am not sure it’s sustainable to affirm robotically for several hours per day for many weeks on end but it can give you a kick start and also shed some light on what you are thinking and feeling habitually during your dead time that may be creating unwanted situations for you.

Why robotic affirming may be the best manifesting technique for you to use

What I love most about this tool is that unlike other techniques, it doesn’t require a lot of concentration or focus. You can use it even if you feel bad. It’s great for people with anxiety, who can’t relax during SATS. You don’t need faith or belief for this technique. You can do it in public, using your own private inner speech. You also don’t lose anything, because you’re going to spend that time in your day doing the washing up and laundry (or whatever it is) anyway, and you have nothing to lose by saying positive things to yourself instead of the usual thoughts you have.

You can also just do it once a day while you’re brushing your teeth, or you could use it for several hours per day (or something in between). I would say the most sustainable way to use this method is to choose one activity and one set of affirmations, and do that every day. For example, every time you drive to work, you affirm for money. Or every time you do the washing up, you affirm for your health.

If you get tired of doing it, you could also make a recording of yourself on your phone repeating your affirmations over and over for 15 minutes and listen to that on a loop. That will have the same effect. (I find that this is also a great way to memorise your affirmations initially.)

Is Your Soul’s Purpose Pulling You in Multiple Directions?

Are you someone who has had multiple careers so far in this lifetime?

Do you find it hard to settle on that “one thing” you feel you “should” be doing?

    Are you multi-talented?

Do you keep flitting from one passion or project to the next?

If so, read on because you may fit into this category of multi-talented souls that I sometimes read for…

When I do an Akashic Record Reading for a client, there are multiple aspects that I look at that give me insight into the person’s soul gifts and what they are good at.

    These aspects are:

Let’s have a look at these aspects first of all, and what they are, then I will explain how they connect to multi-talented people.

The Archangelic realm of training is a training that the soul has from the beginning of its life as a soul. Most people know about the 8 chakras that we have in the physical, but not many people know that there are also 8 corresponding energy centres in the non-physical world (called ‘realms’) that hold the energies connected to each of the chakras. Each realm is presided over by an Archangel (for example, Archangel Raphael presides over the 4th energy centre which corresponds to the heart chakra). When a soul is created, it chooses one of these realms to train in, and in doing so, the energies of that realm become part of the fabric of that soul. For example, a soul that trains in Archangel Raphael’s realm tends to be a healer.

The Archangelic realm of training gives us a lot of information about the approach that a soul is going to take to life, what their soul gifts are and what they need in order to be happy.

The soul group of origin means the environment that the soul chooses for its formative incarnations. Sometimes souls choose to have their very first incarnation here on Earth (which makes them an Earth soul) but often, souls choose to have their first several incarnations elsewhere. New souls are very impressionable, energetically speaking, and absorb the energies of the first place they incarnate into. Then they bring those energies forward with them into all subsequent lifetimes, including earthly lifetimes.

Therefore the soul group of origin is a big part of our soul’s purpose and has an impact on what we’re good at, on the soul level.

Now let’s have a look at the archetypes. There are 36 possible archetypes that a soul can hold, such as ‘intuitive’, ‘relater’, ‘protector of animals’, ‘coach’, or ‘humourist’ to give a few examples. These give more details on a soul’s purpose for any given lifetime, in addition to the details provided by the Archangelic realm of training and the soul group of origin categories mentioned above.

Archetypes are often skills gathered in past lives. For example, a soul with the ‘communicator’ archetype is often a soul with past life experience as an orator, writer, scribe, messenger or oral storyteller.

Most souls are not especially multi-talented

Many souls have just one Archangelic realm of training, one soul group of origin, and several archetypes. For example, a soul could have the Rapahelite realm of training which means he is a natural-born healer. He could also be an Alpha Caelian soul, which means that he has been a healer, on the ‘other side’, and his archetypes could revolve around working with people, such as ‘counsellor’, ‘relater’, ‘intuitive’, ‘empath’ and ‘compassion’. Often the archetypes will reinforce what the realm of training and the soul group of origin are already telling us.

These soul gifts, taken altogether, point to the idea that this soul will be drawn to healing and maybe some sort of pastoral role in his career, too. He may be working as a psychologist or a priest or some other religious worker who comes into contact with people. Or he could be a nurse or a doctor (and this would be a doctor with a great bedside manner) or any number of roles that involve healing and a warm, soothing presence.

Note that these gifts are all pointing in the same direction, and this is not uncommon.

Now let’s look at the opposite scenario.

Every now and again I come across a soul for whom most of their soul gifts are going in opposite directions from one another (instead of all pointing to the same area of study or work). And this can sometimes be a difficult thing for people who have it. It can produce the feeling of never being able to settle on ‘one thing’.

Let’s look at an example of this:

A soul who has two realms of training — perhaps the Raphaelite realm of training, which points towards healing, and the Gabrielite (5th) realm of training which points towards communication and teaching.

Then the soul has two soul groups of origin — the Vegan soul group, which is all about making people laugh, entertainment and being in the limelight, and the Mintakan soul group, which is all about helping people to evolve and grow spiritually.

And maybe a set of archetypes which have nothing to do with the above gifts, such as artist, activist, coach, protector of animals and improving systems.

For this person, I can count 10 different gifts. This person could be:

    • A dance teacher (Gabrielite realm of training plus Vegan soul group of origin)
    • A dance performer (Vegan)
    • An actor (Vegan)
    • A spiritual coach (Mintakan)
    • A healer (Raphaelite realm of training)
    • A Reiki teacher (Gabrielite and Alpha Caelian)

    And maybe all at once!

I read for someone recently whose soul profile looked a lot like this — he was self-employed and had many different strands to his business, including teacher, healer, performer, and more.

People who have soul profiles like this are the ones who feel they are pulled in multiple different directions. They often get frustrated when they see people around them who are focused on just one thing, because they suspect they are spreading themselves too thinly.

If this is you, perhaps you are meant to be focused on multiple areas and doing multiple different jobs throughout your life?

I would say maybe 5-10% of my Akashic Record Reading clients fit into this category and they get a lot of validation from being told that they are designed to be immersed in multiple different fields of work and study throughout their life.

I wanted to write about this in case there is anyone reading who feels they fit into this category.

If you’d like to learn more about your soul’s past and your soul gifts in an Akashic Record reading, here are some options:

  • How to Test Out the Law of Assumption Using the Ladder Exercise

One of the biggest hurdles to putting the Law of Assumption into practice is belief.

Many people who use the Law do not have faith in it, and so they are constantly doubting and looking to the outside world for confirmation that it works. This can keep you in a loop of never creating what you desire.

Here’s how a lack of belief can sometimes keep you stuck:

In order to create what you desire, you have to “turn your back on the world of the senses” and ignore the 3D. Your current 3D world is but a time lapse shadow that is cast by your consciousness and state of being — your assumptions, words, actions, beliefs and the thoughts and feelings that you were identifying with, usually over the past several weeks.

You are the authority over your 3D world and you can create anything you want in the 3D by giving it to yourself in your 4D world (aka your imagination) first. But you have to embody the state of being of the person who already has what you want, and you have to persist in this embodiment over a period of days, weeks or months, until what you are imagining has “hardened into fact”, as Neville Goddard put it.

But people who lack belief in the Law of Assumption often cannot persist in this exercise, because they’re constantly looking to the 3D world for confirmation that the Law of Assumption techniques they are practising are having a result, and they sometimes want fast results. This focus on the 3D world can cause people to doubt, creating a state of lack.

So, not having sufficient belief in the Law of Assumption can sometimes keep you stuck in your present 3D circumstances, even if you desperately want change.

    Here’s how to fix this.

Test the Law of Assumption out with something small

Instead of jumping in at the deep end and working on manifesting your wildest dreams, start small to build your faith in the Law.

Neville Goddard (the New Thought author and lecturer who popularised the Law of Assumption teachings) recommended that his students start with the Ladder Exercise.

    Here it is:

    1. Get into a meditative state by breathing deeply for a minute or so.

    2. Then say to yourself inside your mind: “I will not climb a ladder”.

See a ladder in front of you. Decide whether your ladder is indoors or outdoors. Decide on whether it is going to be made of wood or metal. Decide on how tall the ladder is. (Note that you may not manifest these details, and the details really do not matter – this is just for you to make your vision as vivid as possible.)

Next, see yourself climbing the first rung, then the second rung, then the third, and so on, until you reach the top.

Once you reach the top, again say to yourself “I will not climb a ladder”.

Do this once a day at least. Neville Goddard recommended doing it when you’re totally relaxed and just before sleep for best results (and this is an ideal time to do it) but you can also do it during the day, as long as you take a few minutes to meditate and enter a relaxed state beforehand.

On top of that exercise, I also recommend affirming “I will not climb a ladder” regularly. You should be affirming for a set number of minutes per day, saying over and over inside your mind (or out loud) “I will not climb a ladder”.

I recommend doing this when you are doing some mindless task such as driving, washing dishes or showering, for 10-20 minutes per day.

The more you affirm, the quicker your subconscious mind will be impressed with this idea of climbing the ladder, and the quicker it will manifest in the 3D.

If you can’t easily visualise, you can just affirm instead but make sure you do it for a good period of time everyday — at least 10 minutes daily.

For this to manifest, you must persist in this experiment and keep doing it everyday until what you are seeing in your mind materialises in physical reality.

If you give up before it materialises, you failed the experiment because you did not persist.

An Alternative to “I will not climb a ladder”

If you’d like a different scenario to play around with, you could choose the following:

“I really wish people would stop giving me sunflowers.”

Use the instructions above but instead of climbing a ladder, visualise someone handing you a bunch of sunflowers (or any other flower you like.) See the yellow petals of the flowers and the dark centre at the heart of the flower. Feel the thick, fibrous, hairy stalks in your hand.

People keep giving you flowers and it’s getting overwhelming. “I really wish people would stop giving me sunflowers.” You could even see sunflowers falling from the sky.

You should choose the scenario that makes sense to you. It should be something surprising that doesn’t regularly occur in your everyday life – ideally something that hasn’t occurred in years. If people often gift you flowers, go with the ladder exercise instead. Or if you have to climb ladders regularly (e.g. for your job) go with the flower exercise.

You can also choose another scenario altogether. Just a note however that I’ve seen people test out the law with things that are more commonplace, such as seeing a golden retriever or an apple. These items are too ubiquitous to be meaningful proof of manifestation. Instead, when you test out the law, it needs to be an action you’re not doing regularly in your everyday life, or something that simply hardly ever happens to you (if at all), like receiving sunflowers or climbing a ladder.

As with any manifestation, certain rules apply:

    1. Don’t make this experiment super important in your mind. Treat it like a game and let go of any resistance. Say this prayer if you are doubting or feeling impatient/frustrated “I cast my doubt/impatience/frustration onto the Christ within, and I go free now”

    2. Don’t check the 3D, asking yourself “is the ladder here yet?” and wondering where it is – this is not ‘living in the end.” Imagination is reality and the world behind your eyes is more real than anything you see in the 3D, because the world behind your eyes is the movie projector that creates your 3D reality. Your 3D reality is just a shadow and a projection of what you were focusing on, usually several weeks or days ago. This guided meditation can help with this concept of turning your back on the 3D reality. If you use this meditation, see yourself climbing a ladder in it.

    Don’t let doubt stop you

Note that belief is not necessary to manifest a desired outcome in the 3D and you don’t have to believe in the Law of Assumption or the Law of Attraction for this ladder exercise to work. The Law of Assumption is working for you all of the time (even if you don’t believe in it). The Law of Assumption works in the same way gravity works, in that even if you didn’t believe in gravity, you would still fall to the ground if you jumped off a cliff!

I offer a free online resource for manifesting your desired reality using the Law of Assumption — it’s a collection of online articles which are presented in the right order so that you can use them as a ‘how to’ guide. • How to Manifest Anything Using the Law of Assumption

How to Manifest Anything Using the Law of Assumption

The Law of Assumption (which was popularised by the New Thought writer and mystic Neville Goddard’s work) says that we manifest the circumstances of our lives according to who we are being – it is our identity and self-concept that creates our 3D world.

“Every man automatically expresses that which he is conscious of being. Without effort or the use of words, at every moment of time, man is commanding himself to be and to possess that which he is conscious of being and possessing” — Neville Goddard

So, in order to have something in our 3D world that we don’t currently have, the most effective way to go after it is to start embodying the character who has it, in our identity and self-concept.

Everything else is a downstream consequence of who we are being — the thoughts and feelings that we are identifying with, and reacting to are a downstream consequence of who we are being, and so are our beliefs and assumptions about life. Together, these create our lives.

So the answer to creating change in our world is not to try to change our thoughts, feelings or beliefs but instead to change our identity and concept of ourselves.

The great mystic Neville Goddard did talk a lot about the importance of becoming the person who has our desire, in order for it to manifest in our reality, but he didn’t write as much about HOW to become that person.

In this article I’m going to share what I have learned about how you can become the person who already has what you want. The ideas in this article are adapted from techniques and processes I learned in Joe Dispenza’s guided meditations, the DNRS program, and in Frederick Dobson’s book ‘Parallel Universes of Self’.

Let’s look at the first step in becoming the person who has your desire…

You need to find out who this person is and how they differ from who you are being right now.

As an example, let’s say that your desire is to own your own little homestead in the countryside and move your family there.

Who is this person who has their own homestead?

If it helps, you can approach this like you are writing a character in a play or a movie. The mystic and quantum physicist Vadim Zeland writes in his book ‘Reality Transurfing’ that every possibility that could exist in our lives, already exists. Manifesting the reality we desire isn’t about creating that possibility, but instead choosing the one that we want and then aligning with it by becoming the person who has it.

(Note that this isn’t about becoming someone completely different, instead you are becoming a slightly different version of yourself that already exists.)

Once you know who this character is, you can rehearse being them and play them. But the first step is to know who they are.

Let’s look at ways you can find out who this person is:

    1. Ask questions

Meditate for 5-10 mins to quieten your mind. Then ‘tune in’ to this new character who has your desire. Ask them questions such as:

    • Do you have any daily habits that I don’t currently have?
    • Do I currently have any habits that you have ditched?
    • How do you dress? Is it any different?
    • Do you eat differently?
    • What’s your financial situation like?
    • What’s your posture like?
    • How do you walk?
    • What is your relationship like? (if applicable)
    • Is your living situation the same? Has anything about it changed?
    • Are you saying things I’m not currently saying?
    • Have you stopped saying things I are currently saying/talking about?
    • How do you see yourself?
    • How are you different from ‘present-time me’ in other ways?

(Note that these questions are adapted from Frederick Dobson’s excellent book ‘Parallel Universes of Self’, which I highly recommend you read if you want to learn more about the Law of Assumption.)

Now let’s look at another possible way to flesh out this new character:

    2. Get a scene from your future self

Meditate for 5-10 mins to get yourself into a relaxed state.

Ask your future self (who has your desire) for a scene that encapsulates your desired reality, and see what comes to you. A scene will spontaneously arise in your mind.

For example, if you are wishing to move your family to a homestead in the countryside, the scene you’re given could be something like this:

You’re sitting outside on a summer’s afternoon or evening with your partner on a swing seat, and your large vegetable garden or “food forest” is directly in your line of sight. You see the food growing and feel satisfied. Maybe you can hear chickens clucking in the distance as your chickens bed down for the night in their coop. Your partner holds your hand and you look at him/her, feeling fulfilled.

Write out your scene in detail. Make sure you are writing this from the first person perspective, rather than the third person perspective.

    3. Decide on the energies associated with your new reality

When you have your scene have a think about: what are the energies that this ‘future you’ has access to, that you maybe aren’t accessing so much right now? Or, put another way: what are the energies behind your desire?

    Here are some examples:

    • Satisfaction
    • Connection
    • Love
    • Expansion
    • Self-love
    • Security
    • Beauty
    • Freedom (this is a big one for many people)
    • Bliss
    • Joy
    • Safety
    • Wholeness
    • Wellness
    • Vitality
    • Stability
    • Peace
    • Strength (physical or emotional)
    • Worthiness
    • Belonging
    • Groundedness/rootedness
    • Relaxation
    • Power/empowerment.

In the scene mentioned above, where our homesteader is sitting on a swing seat with her partner, the energies she is seeking more of might be: fulfilment, rootedness and belonging (to a sense of place).

OK, now we have some information about who this person is, we need to rehearse being them and essentially get really comfortable being that character. At first this is not going to feel natural, but if you persist in it, it does become natural over time, and that is when your manifestation shows up.

Rehearsing your new character until you become them

    Here’s how you do this:

    1. Visualise your scene

Visualise the scene that your future self gave you, and connect with the positive energies you identified.

I would begin by standing up and describing this scene out loud in the first person.

    For example:

“I’m sitting next to X on the swing seat on our back porch. It’s 8pm and I can hear crickets and the clucking of our chickens in their coop as they bed down for the night. The air is warm. I feel tired, in a good way after a day full of working on our land. The children are in bed. In front of me I can see many raised vegetable beds full of vegetables. He/she takes my hand and looks at me, with a look of pride and fulfilment on his/her face. We both feel so happy and fulfilled that our dream of owning our own homestead has come true.”

Next, choose an energy associated with your scene, and give it a colour. See that energy coming into your body though the top of your head and see it cascading down your body, filling all of your cells. In this one, it could be the feeling of fulfilment, which is dark blue. Narrate the energy coming into your body, for example: fulfilment comes into my head, my shoulders, my arms, etc, and all my cells are filled with fulfilment.

Rest and rejoice in that energy of fulfilment. Feel it as much as possible and for as long as you like, until you become very practised in feeling it and calling it to mind (or heart). If you can feel those energies multiple times per day, this can really help with manifesting your new reality in the 3D.

Keep doing this daily until you no longer desire your goal. This means that you have reached a state Neville Goddard calls ‘the Sabbath’ and it’s the best place to be to manifest your desire.

An alternative to visualising could be using guided meditations that help to connect you with the energy of your desire. For example, Joe Dispenza has abundance meditations which connect you with the energy of freedom, and love meditations which connect you with the energy of love and joy.

For more options, visit YouTube and search “guided meditation + the energy you’re seeking more of” e.g. “guided meditation love”. There are so many guided meditations out there which can help connect you with the energy behind your desire.

Let’s have a look at another step that you can go through to rehearse being the person who has your desire.

    2. What would you be doing if you were already the person who had your desire?

Take those actions now, as much as practicable.

For example, let’s say that your desire is to buy your dream home in a particular area, but in your 3D reality, you don’t yet have all the funds needed to buy a home in that area. Go and view homes anyway.

In another example, let’s say you’re manifesting a pregnancy. You have a stack of pregnancy books but for some reason you haven’t started reading them yet. Start reading them and pretend to yourself that you’re pregnant already when reading them.

Obviously you won’t be able to do this in every case. If you have an injury for example, you may want to go jogging but perhaps it’s not a good idea just yet. Only take the actions that are practical now which can help you to embody the character who has your desire.

You might also want to ask yourself: what would I stop doing if I had this desired reality already in the 3D? Maybe you would stop obsessively consuming LOA content on YouTube or perhaps you would stop listening to sad love songs if you’re manifesting a new partner.

    3. Stop identifying with thoughts and feelings that don’t align with this new character

Thoughts and feelings will come up that may be contrary to your desire – they often do. Don’t feel that you need to stop them. Instead, just don’t identify with them. Say to yourself “this is not my end result.”

    4. Let yourself become frustrated with who you are currently being, if it doesn’t align with your new reality

Becoming the person who has your new reality is an organic process that will take on a life of its own as things progress. It won’t happen overnight and it has multiple stages, including the part where you can become quite frustrated with who you are being, and you end up naturally shifting to a different place because you really don’t like where you currently are. Frustration can be a part of the process — embrace every negative emotion that comes up and invite it in so that they can move through you more quickly. These negative emotions won’t manifest on their own. (It is only the negative emotions and thoughts that we identify with strongly that manifest in our 3D reality.)

I hope this article helps you in your manifesting process!

P.S. I wrote an article here about embodying the version of yourself that is experiencing your desired reality in the area of health. It has some examples in it that you may find helpful if you are working on embodiment for manifestation so I recommend you go read that article after reading this one.

  • Is It OK to Manifest with a Deadline?

    [et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ admin_label=”section” _builder_version=”4.16″ global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row” _builder_version=”4.16″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.16″ custom_padding=”|||” global_colors_info=”{}” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” _builder_version=”4.25.1″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” sticky_enabled=”0″]

In this article I want to answer a common question about manifesting, which is:

Is it OK to have a deadline on your manifestation?

Examples of this would be having a financial goal with a deadline, such as earning an extra $1000 before the end of the month, or in another example, manifesting a romantic relationship before the end of the year.

Obviously externally imposed deadlines (i.e. circumstances forcing your hand) are something you have to work with no matter what. But I don’t recommend internally imposed deadlines.

    Here’s why:

When you are manifesting a new 3D reality, it isn’t about changing the 3D or getting a result in the 3D (even if that is why you are doing it). Instead, effective manifesting involves changing the 4D – the world behind your eyes. When manifesting, you have to embody and become the person who already has the result in your consciousness and your mind (nothing materialises in the 3D without this process.)

So, if you already had your result, such as a new partner before the end of the year, who would you “be being”?

You’d be someone who felt secure and relaxed in your new relationship and also in the knowledge that you are the creator of your life. You wouldn’t be worrying about having it, because you know you already have it.

These energies of security and feeling chilled about it are not in alignment with a self-imposed deadline. A self-imposed deadline is usually saying:

“I really don’t have it yet in material reality, and I need to control when it appears because I’m feeling the lack of it.”

So self-imposed deadlines are often rooted in lack, and this only creates more of the ‘not having it’ in your reality.

The other problem with imposing deadlines is that it sometimes constitutes micromanaging the manifesting process.

When we set an intention to experience something in the 3D, we are setting in motion a Bridge of Incidents (BOI), which is a path to our goal in the 3D. We don’t know what the BOI is going to involve and usually it’s a ‘cosmic surprise’ — a series of events that we could never have predicted that takes us towards our desire. Some Bridge of Incidents are long and others are short.

Sometimes we can be really far away from our goal or desire, energetically. For example, you wish to meet a partner by the end of the year but you’re not ready for a relationship for some reason. Maybe you have been in a long-term relationship that ended recently, and you haven’t moved on from it.

To manifest a good relationship, you need to become someone who embodies being in that good relationship now. If you are not remotely that person yet, your Bridge of Incidents may be extensive and maybe you won’t be ready for a relationship by the end of the year, even if you want one.

So, putting a deadline on your desire in some cases may be about trying to micromanage the Bridge of Incidents. And when it doesn’t happen by your deadline, you may become discouraged and give up on using the Law of Assumption to consciously create. In my opinion, that would be a great shame because you can use the Law to manifest a whole variety of desired intentions.

So, that is the other reason I don’t recommend imposing deadlines on your manifestation.

The only time I recommend setting intentions with a deadline

There is one exception to all of this: if you know that you don’t care about your desire that much and you can manifest it with the energy of fun, a deadline can be OK.

For example, let’s say that you are financially comfortable and make a good income, but you’d like to manifest an extra $1000 before the end of this month. If you can approach manifestation like a fun game, you don’t need the money and you don’t mind if you don’t get it, go ahead and set a deadline.

But in my opinion, it isn’t ideal to set a deadline to make more money if you need the money. In that situation, there will be importance attached to it. Instead I recommend choosing a financial goal and manifesting that, but with no deadline attached.

If you’re unsure of whether you’re ready to set an intention with a deadline, ask yourself how you would feel if your desire never arrived. If you feel something negative in response to this question, don’t set a deadline, because it will add pressure and importance, which creates resistance, and resistance can delay your manifestation. On the other hand, if you don’t mind that much if your desire never materialises, it’s fine to set a deadline.

  • How I Manifested a New Home with the Law of Assumption (In the Exact Location I Wanted To Live In)

In this article, I have an interesting manifestation story to tell from my own life…

A few months ago, it became clear to me that I needed to move house.

I had been living in a rental property for around 3 years, with a landlady who I always had to walk on eggshells around. The landlady often used angry outbursts and manipulation in an attempt to wriggle out of her responsibilities to maintain the place.

This was a property that I moved into when I first arrived in New Zealand after moving from the UK during the pandemic, and I never intended to stay very long.

However, after I moved in I became ill and was unable to move for around 18 months.

Once my health improved earlier this year, and the landlady’s bad behaviour had escalated I knew it was time to move, but I had a lot of resistance to the idea.

The main reason I was resistant to moving was that I believed I wasn’t going to find a home that was as peaceful as where I was living.

I was living in a location in Wellington, NZ that was very handy to the city centre but also set in a peaceful bush environment. It was like a little oasis close to the city — set far away from the road, surrounded by greenery and with really quiet neighbours. My cat loved it, too.

It became clear to me that finding such a peaceful place close to the city was rare. In fact, looking at the listings over a period of about one month I could see that the place I was renting was quite unique and I probably wasn’t going to find something similar any time soon. My 3D reality was showing me that. I also knew that according to the Law of Assumption, my 3D reality was simply reflecting my beliefs back to me, and I needed to change them.

So what I did next was, I had a think about the kind of street or location I wanted to live in. I decided I wanted to live in a quiet place close to a nature reserve or park, in a peaceful bush setting. I then went on Google Maps and found plenty of streets in the Wellington region that matched this description, even though I wasn’t seeing them coming up in the rental listings (after all, Wellington city is bordered by multiple regional parks made up of native bush, wetlands and forests.)

Next, I chose one of the streets at random, and looked at it in Google Street View. It was an ideal location for me. I chose a house on that street and started visualising myself living there.

Note that this was not a strategy to try to manifest that house. It just naturally happened that I started visualising living there (the visualisation just came to me without me trying.) I didn’t expect to manifest this house – for a start the house had 5 bedrooms which is too big for my needs – instead I was just visualising it to give myself the idea that it was possible to find a location that was as ideal as my current home. I needed to let go of my limiting belief that what I wanted was not possible because it did not exist.

After I visualised it for a few days, I let it go and stopped thinking about it.

I kept looking at the rental listings in the mean time. Nothing suitable came up for 3 weeks or so. Then a lovely, well-kept house 2 doors away from the one I visualised on that quiet street in the ideal location came up in the listings for rent. And the size of it was much more suitable for me.

When I saw it in the listings, I just knew it was my house. I went to view it (in a viewing that was packed with people who were expressing enthusiasm about living there to the property manager.)

My situation was less than ideal: I had no reference since the deteriorating relationship with my landlady meant she had refused to give me one, and I have a pet, but my application was still accepted out of all the applicants. I am now living in that house.

What are the chances that a house would come up for rent 2 doors away from the one I visualised, and that I would be chosen to rent it with a pet in tow and no former landlord reference? In Wellington City there are almost 77,000 dwellings, and only several of them became available per day among the rental listings that allowed cats, so this was not a high likelihood that I would be able to manifest living in that street.

This was the Law of Assumption at work! (In fact, the Law of Assumption is at work all the time, but in this case it was used consciously in my favour.)

I’m very happy in my new home. I love the location. The neighbours are quiet. The property managers do not try to wriggle out of their responsibilities like my last landlady did. It’s sunny, reasonably priced, spacious, private and I have a vegetable garden, which I’ve wanted for a long time.

If you are looking to manifest a new home using the Law of Assumption, below I’m going to give some instructions.

And if you are interested in using the Law of Assumption to manifest your desires but it is not a new home you are seeking, instead I recommend reading this article: How to Manifest Anything Using the Law of Assumption.

Now let’s look at what you can do to manifest a new home, if you are in that situation.

First of all, I recommend not doing what I did and only manifesting a new place once your current place becomes unbearable to live in. It’s best to manifest from a relaxed space, with minimal importance attached to it.

    1. Write a list of what you are looking for in a new home.

Don’t limit yourself by what you think you can get for your budget.

In Neville Goddard’s book ‘The Law and the Promise’ he tells the story of a woman who wants to manifest a new home for her family. This woman and her husband decided they wanted to move in with her aunt and mother and a whole menagerie of animals. They had a ridiculously long list of requirements, including the location, a wonderful view, complete privacy and other requirements such as a large fireplace and wood panelling all through the house. It also had to be a very large house that would give each member of the family privacy. When they told the real estate agents how much they were willing to pay for the house, they were laughed at and told they would need to pay 5 times more than they had to spend.

Long story short, they got their house at the price they were willing to pay. Circumstances do not matter.

(You can read more about this story here in The Law and the Promise.)

If I had to manifest my house again, I would have had a longer list of requirements, but I was so hung up on my limiting belief about the location that I didn’t think to do this.

Don’t restrict yourself by what the market appears to be like or what current house prices or rental prices are. If you want to find a property that doesn’t cost much to live in or that you live in for free you can also achieve this. There are many stories online of people creating situations like these.

    2. Set an intention

Next, set a clear intention as to what you want to create.

    3. Create a Visualisation

Once you have got your list of what you’re looking for in a home, create a visualisation that implies you have what you want. See yourself living in this home and visualise it often, at least once a day until you feel like you don’t need to visualise anymore.

Your visualisation could be a friend or family member getting a house tour and congratulating you on your beautiful new home.

It could be you and a pet or your kids enjoying your outdoor space in the summer.

When you have your scene, replay it from the first person perspective, feeling everything about it — touch, taste, smell, sight, hearing. In the beginning, write out your scene or describe it out loud so you can connect with all the details.

You might want to think about: what is the energy that the scene evokes in you?

In my scene, I felt a sense of safety (away from problematic landlords!) I gave that energy of safety and security a colour (red) and I gave it a colour and had it come into all my cells through the crown chakra. I said to myself, safety is now entering my head, my face, my shoulders, my chest etc., until my whole being was filled with safety. I breathed in safety and rejoiced in it for a few moments.

You can do this with any energy your scene evokes in you e.g. freedom, expansion, happiness.

    4. Use Affirmations

You could also use an affirmation throughout the day such as:

I’m so lucky to be living in my dream home.

    or:

I’m so happy that I live in such a lovely place.

Replace the word ‘lovely’ with anything you like, such as ‘sunny’, ‘beautiful’, ‘spacious’, ‘secluded’, ‘private’, ‘luxurious’ or ‘quiet’ and begin your statements with:

    I love that…

    I am so lucky that…

    I am so happy that…

When you say these affirmations, say them like you’re celebrating the fact that you already live in this place. You can have anything you want in the 3D, as long as you give it to yourself in your mind first!

    5. Act ‘as if’

Something else I did was I acted ‘as if’ — I started preparing for my move before I even found a new place. I decluttered and packed. I wrote out the email giving my landlady notice that I was leaving (obviously I didn’t send it until I was ready though.)

So ask yourself, what would you be doing if you already had what you wanted? Do that now, as much as possible.

    6. Ignore the 3D and let go of the ‘how’

As I mentioned, after I had decided what I wanted in a new home, I looked at the listings for 3 weeks and nothing suitable came up. I did not take this as evidence that it was impossible to have what I want. I ignored what the listings were telling me. I knew I would eventually find my house.

I recommend that once you have decided on what you want, you ignore what the 3D world is showing you and keep going within to your dream. Focus on that.

Also, don’t strategise on how you are going to find this new home. Instead, visualise and affirm, and if you need to take some action, you will be clearly called into action.

    7. Check your self-concept

When manifesting something favourable for yourself (such as a beautiful new home) you need to feel that you deserve it.

It’s harder to manifest something favourable and keep it if you have a low opinion of yourself.

    I recommend saying affirmations like:

I deserve to live in a beautiful place

I deserve to receive so much from this life

I deserve to live in a comfortable home

I deserve the absolute best life has to offer

I shift realities easily and effortlessly

I am the place new opportunities come from

Almost 16 years ago, I learned to read the Akashic Records.

If you follow my work, you may have heard the story of how I got into the spiritual field…

Many years ago, I was working as a teacher in a language school in Spain, but I was pretty dissatisfied with my life and my work. I felt that language teaching wasn’t for me. I was looking for something more in my life, although at this point I wasn’t quite sure what that was.

At the same time I was feeling this way, I became very interested in my past lives. I read a book by Brian Weiss called Many Lives, Many Masters.

This book about past life therapy got me very interested in past lives and I became so curious about my own. I wanted to know who I had been, and how this impacted who I was now. I had an inkling from deep within me that this information was somehow important, and I needed it!

And so I contacted a woman in Arizona who offered Akashic Record Readings, including information about past lives. She told me that people don’t become curious about their past lives for no reason and that there was undoubtedly something there for me to heal.

    Boy was she right.

The Akashic Reading she gave me changed my life, and I signed up for her program to learn to read the Akashic Records. For 17 years since then I’ve been offering Akashic Record readings to the general public. These readings have formed the basis of my career and I am very blessed to be able to do them.

In this article I’m going to talk about what are the reasons I love being able to read the Akashic Records, and highly recommend this skill to others! Let’s dive into the first reason I value this skill highly.

    1. I can find out who the people around me are on the soul level

If there is someone in our lives who is close to us, we have permission to find out who that person is on the soul level, because this helps us better relate to them and perhaps improve our relationship. Through reading the records, we can find out our loved ones’ soul gifts, why their soul chose to incarnate here on Earth, what they are learning (and even what they may be learning in their relationship with us!) We can also find out about their most recent incarnation prior to this one, or in fact any previous incarnation they have had. We can find out how many earthly incarnations they’ve had altogether, and even what their soul has been training in, between lifetimes.

Basically, an Akashic Record reading can tell me what is really defining about someone’s soul — who are they?

I know much of this information about my siblings, parents, nieces, some of my friends, and past romantic partners.

It is fascinating and has helped me to understand the people from my past and present much better.

For example, one of my nieces has the exact same soul origins and soul trainings as me, which helps to explain why I feel a special affinity and kinship with this relative.

    2. I can find out all of this information about myself

Another benefit of being able to read the Akashic Records is that I can of course research this information about my own soul’s story. I know myself extremely well, as a result. I know a lot about my past lives. I know what I am good at and what I’m not so good at. I know all the in’s and out’s of what I’m learning in this lifetime. I know what I’ll be learning and exploring in future lifetimes. I know what I’ve done between earthly incarnations. I know why I am here. This is great information for me to have and has also helped me a lot in my work. It means I never try to be someone I’m not (especially in my work) and I capitalise on my strengths because I know exactly what they are.

The Akashic Records say I’m a Sirian soul who enjoys helping people to improve themselves, the world around them or any aspect of their performance in life. I’m obsessed with improvement. I also bring order and structure to any task or system I’m involved with.

This has been helpful for me to know because it’s been clear since I’ve created my own business that what I am drawn to is systematising things — I create big programs which teach people how to do something that is normally considered abstract, such as how to develop your psychic abilities, how to read the Akashic Records, and how to do spiritual healings (including cord cutting) for oneself and for others.

The feedback I’ve had from my students is that programs are very structured and they are like a roadmap to get you from A to B with a particular goal. Many people in the spiritual field do not create structured programs like this.

If I didn’t know who I was on the soul level and what I am good at, maybe I’d be more inclined to try to copy other spiritual authors/teachers or compare myself to others.

In addition to being able to find out all the details of my soul’s past and story, through reading the Akashic Records, I can also find out how many past lives I have shared with my loved ones. This can be interesting to know. (Often we have shared 10+ earthly lifetimes with the people close to us.) When I read for one of my grandparents, I found that I’d had 26 lives with them, which was around 20-25% of the earthly lives I’d had altogether. (No wonder I felt such a connection with this person!)

Now onto the third reason why I love being able to read the Akashic Records…

    3. I can find out all of this information for my clients

I can’t tell you how cool it is to read for a client and see their soul’s story unfold in front of my eyes, right from the beginning of their birth as a soul.

As the information is revealed bit by bit, it’s like an amazing jigsaw puzzle that is being put together over the course of an hour or so.

I also love being able to create email readings for my clients (using my Akashic reading email templates) that they can refer back to in the future.

    4. Reading the records gives me a sense of oneness and spiritual connection that I highly value

Going into the Akashic Records (and reading for my client or for myself) is really incredible. First upon entering, I get to connect with my Akashic Record guides who have been with me since I started coming into the records 16 years or so ago. The energy I feel from my guides is open, friendly and loving. Before they give me access to my client’s soul record, they sometimes ‘take me aside’ and pass on messages that are useful for my life.

Then when I start to pass on the information that a client has given me (such as their name and date of birth) and start the reading, the guides sometimes have the record ready and it often feels like it’s the case that they already knew who booked a reading, without me needing to pass on their info. Then I get to read the person’s soul record.

This process fills me with gratitude, oneness and a sense of spiritual connection, and it raises my vibration.

    5. I can find out more about the bigger picture of what is going on here on Planet Earth

It is no secret that many lightworkers and star seeds are currently here on this planet.

Starseeds and light workers are responsible for the explosion in the New Thought and spiritual material that has come out in the last 50-100 years. All the prominent New Thought and spiritual teachers of the last 100 years have been starseeds, and it’s no coincidence that they are here.

They are here to help us raise our vibration and help this planet evolve.

There seems to be a sense of urgency around this starseed mission in recent times, and there is a very specific reason for this.

I am a fan of the spiritual teacher Caroline Myss, who writes about mysticism, health and healing.

One of the things she often talks about in her workshops is that she believes that the reason there are so many light workers on the planet right now, is because of the atomic bomb and our nuclear weapon capabilities.

Ever since the 1930s, we’ve had the capacity to completely destroy ourselves and the planet, and some believe we are inching closer to this eventuality.

Only in the last 90 years this has been possible. Never in our history prior to this, has this been a possibility the way it is now.

Caroline Myss believes this is also why there is currently a greater availability of spiritual knowledge that was once unavailable to the masses — to try to stop this eventuality of mass destruction.

How can light workers help to prevent this?

When one person raises their vibration, heals themselves or manifests a beautiful life, it affects the whole world. We are more powerful than we know.

Given this backdrop of what is occurring right now, it is really fascinating to me to know all about the 22+ star seed groups who are present on our planet, along with what their purpose is here.

It’s also interesting to see the groups that are coming in for readings.

I feel like reading the Akashic Records helps to give me a ‘behind the scenes’ look at this mission, who is involved, and who is currently awakening.

My primary goal in life has always been to obtain knowledge – deep knowledge of the why’s and how’s of everything that is occurring on Earth, on a spiritual level, and reading the Akashic Records gives me this knowledge.

So, those are the 5 reasons I love reading the records and highly recommend it.

  • Can you Manifest a Relationship with a Specific Person Using the Law of Assumption?

One of the questions I have had since writing about the Law of Assumption is:

Is it possible (or advisable) to manifest a romantic relationship with a Specific Person? (This is often abbreviated to SP in the Law of Assumption community.)

If you’d like to read the short version of this article, here are the main points:

    • Yes, you can manifest a specific person – Neville Goddard himself did it
    • In my experience, it’s not always a good use of your creative energy to manifest an SP you hardly know. In most cases, I only recommend manifesting an SP you already love and have a high level of compatibility with
    • A desire for an SP is often your soul wanting to take you on a journey of repairing and improving your self-concept
    • Many people who go through this process of manifesting an SP end up not wanting the SP once their self-concept has improved
    • Even if you end up no longer wanting your SP by the time you have manifested them, I still think it’s a worthwhile process because in the end it results in an improved self-concept, which can only improve your future love life, and life overall
    • And if you do still want your SP by the time they show up, you end up with not only your SP, but also a much improved self-concept and first-hand knowledge of your own power as a creator.
    • Finally, just a disclaimer that I believe not all SPs are going to be manifested by everyone. Anyone who tells you that anyone can manifest any SP they like is misguided. Many of the prominent SP manifesting teachers (I won’t name names) are teaching this, yet they are still without their SP after years of manifesting, or they manifested their SP to some degree, but it didn’t work out.

If you’d like to read the long-winded version of the article, here it is:

Can you manifest a relationship with a specific person, and is it even a good idea?

If you’ve been reading my series of articles on the Law of Assumption, you will know that I believe we live in a multiverse, and that you can manifest for other people in general.

(If you haven’t already, please go and read this article: EIYPO: Can We Manifest for Other People?

    …before continuing with this one.)

So, if it’s theoretically possible to manifest for other people, is it a good idea?

Neville Goddard in one of his lectures tells the story of manifesting marriage with his second wife after he met her. So he actually manifested a specific person (more on that at the end of this article) and it is theoretically possible.

Whether or not it is a good idea depends on your individual situation.

One thing I personally don’t feel is a good idea is manifesting a relationship with someone you hardly know.

Here’s the main reason why I say this:

There are billions of people in the world. If you are single and open to a relationship, there’s a lot of people who could potentially be right for you. The problem is that from your limited human way of seeing things, you have absolutely no idea if that specific person you barely know who you’re now manifesting a relationship with, is the best match for you.

There could be dozens, hundreds, thousands or even tens of thousands of people out there who are way better matches for you romantically.

You don’t know. But your higher self knows, and has a bigger perspective on this.

Therefore, you may be manifesting a relationship with a specific person and it turns out that this person is not someone you would ever want to be in a relationship with.

I have had this experience myself. Rather than take Neville’s word (or anyone else’s word for it) I like to experiment with the Law of Assumption concepts I learn.

As an experiment, I once tried to manifest a date with someone specific that I liked, but only knew superficially. He asked me out and we went on a date (as I had wanted) but it was not a good experience. In fact, my interactions with this person when we were dating briefly caused a lot of stress. He was quite aggressive and insistent that we should be together, while I was finding some of his behaviour off-putting. I had done such a good job of manifesting him that it was hard to get rid of him even after I’d concluded we weren’t a match. In this case, I had manifested from my ego, not from my higher self, and this does sometimes happen with “specific person” manifestations, especially when we don’t know the person we’re manifesting very well.

Even if we’re manifesting someone we do know well and know we want to be with, an intense desire for a specific person (to the point that we’re willing to put in work to bring that person into our life) often results from a low self-concept or attachment wounds (I’ll talk more about that later in this article…)

Why some people end up not wanting the specific person they manifested…

Indeed many people who put significant effort into manifesting a relationship with a specific person, end up not wanting the relationship by the time it shows up in their world, or abandon the project before it shows up.

There is a very specific reason for this, and it’s to do with self-concept.

I wrote about self-concept in this article and defined it as: “the thoughts you habitually have about yourself, and how you feel about yourself. Your self-concept also includes what you think the people around you think of you.”

    How is self-concept relevant?

Well, the relationship that seems desirable to you is a reflection of your current self-concept.

So, for example, if your self-esteem is not good, you may be drawn to people who treat you poorly or people who are unavailable and cannot give you what you need.

Everyone is you pushed out, and must reflect how you feel about yourself deep down in your subconscious mind.

The main way that you work on manifesting a specific person into your life is by becoming someone who is highly desirable to this person, by modifying your self-concept in a positive sense. To manifest an SP, you have to see yourself as desirable (especially to this person) and put yourself on a pedestal in your own mind.

People who teach manifesting a specific person advise ignoring the 3D reality if this person has rejected you, and using affirmations and doing SATS that suggest the relationship you desire has come to pass.

(There’s actually a whole subreddit on Reddit dedicated solely to manifesting an SP the Neville Goddard way, and people do succeed, even in the most unlikely of situations.)

But anyway, back to our hypothetical scenario.

Let’s say that you put significant effort into improving your self-concept and manifesting this person.

Here is the process you go through, when you do this:

When you begin manifesting this person through changing your self-concept, you usually start off with something of a lack mentality. (If you didn’t, you probably wouldn’t be putting effort into manifesting your specific person.)

As you work on improving your self-concept, and seeing yourself as a wonderful person and desirable partner, you can sometimes lose the enthusiasm for manifesting your specific person.

You feel worthy of something wonderful in love, your attachment wounds have faded, and by this point you may start to wonder: why this person? What if there’s someone better suited out there for me?

In my experience, 7 times out of 10, when a person improves their self-concept and is manifesting an SP, this is what happens. They are starting out from a place of low self-concept and attachment wounds, and through their manifesting efforts, they start to feel they deserve better.

So, in some cases through your manifestation efforts, the specific person will actually show up, wanting to begin a relationship, but you’ve lost your enthusiasm for your original desire (note that this sometimes happens, but doesn’t apply in every case.)

    Successful SP manifestations

Some people are successful at manifesting a specific person and end up having long-lasting, successful relationships.

Here’s what I’ve noticed about those cases: they tended to be people who had already been in a loving relationship of some sort with their specific person. Compatibility had already been established, the connection between the two people was already amazing, and no conscious manifesting was required to achieve this. Their SP was a psychologically healthy person who did not have significant life problems, was not personality disordered or an abuser. And they were not trauma bonded. But there was some circumstance that meant they could not be together (usually a low self-concept). Manifesting removed that circumstance and allowed the relationship to go ahead.

Personally I would only work on manifesting an SP if the relationship had already been amazing and there was a lot of compatibility, and the SP didn’t have significant issues.

But this is just my personal opinion, which is based on my experiences and the experiences of people I’ve observed who have been through this process. You do you.

Neville’s experience manifesting a specific person

When Neville Goddard met his second wife, Catherine Willa Van Schumus, he just knew he wanted to be married to her. Of this, he said in one of his lectures:

“The very first time I met her, I knew she was going to be my wife. She didn’t know it, but I knew it. I said to myself, “She doesn’t know it, but she is going to be my wife.”

So he put the Law of Assumption to work, and said the following about his efforts to manifest her as his wife:

“I went to bed and slept as though I was happily married to the girl who now bears my name. I did not have any physical emotion with her: just that she was sleeping there, and I am here, and it’s blissful. I did that for one solid week.”

Long story short, Neville later married this woman he imagined being his wife and they remained married until his death.

But on the other hand, he also says this about people trying to manifest an SP:

“Always go to the end. Dwell in the end, and you will hurt no one. But if you try to devise the means, you are, well, messing the whole thing up. I have had people say to me, “You know, I want that man, and no other man.”

I said, “No, you don’t; you want to be happily married. You don’t want that man or no man.”

“Oh, yes, that man or no man.”

Then, of course, this always shocks them.

I say, “If he dropped dead right now, would you want to be married?”

“Well, he isn’t going to drop…”

“I didn’t ask you that. If he dropped dead right now, or if he is right this very moment accused of being the world’s greatest thief or murderer, do you still want him”

“Well, now, why ask those questions, Neville? I want that man.”

But, you see, it isn’t that man. They want to be happily married. I have gone to so many weddings where it was either that man or none, and it wasn’t “that man”! And they are embarrassed when they see me standing in the aisle, because it had to be “that man or no man,” and here it isn’t that man at all. And they walk down [the aisle] – they are happy with their new mate, but a little sheepish as they pass by because they know I know he was not the man.”

(As an aside, some SP manifestors claim that Neville changed his stance on this later. He didn’t. Towards the end of his life, he still said that it’s best to go general in some cases.)

So, Neville had students who wanted a particular man, but ended up marrying someone else.

This does sometimes happen in my experience talking to people who have tried to manifest an SP.

When people desire strongly to manifest an SP, what their soul wants most of all is to take them on a journey of coming home to themselves — improving their self-concept, loving themselves, valuing themselves and breaking down any barriers within themselves that are blocking them off from love. (The SP will then show up as a side effect of that work.)

    Of love, Neville says:

“Love is our birthright. Love is the fundamental necessity of our life. Do not go seeking for that which you are. Those who go seeking for love only make manifest their own lovelessness and the loveless never find love. Only the loving find love and they never have to seek for it.”

By manifesting an SP, you will go on a journey of becoming loved, loving and loveable in your imagination, simply because you must become those things in order to manifest an SP.

As the Sufi mystic and poet Rumi says:

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”

You are love. Neville Goddard and many other mystical teachers believe that we are microcosms of the larger whole; of the Universe. We are all of it, including all the love in the Universe. We can tap into that love at any time – we are loved, we are loveable and we are loving.

Manifesting an SP will take you on this journey of breaking down these barriers to the love that is available to you and always has been available to you (because it IS you).

And if you feel called to manifest an SP, it can be a positive step and a wonderful thing to do, precisely for this reason. I would never dissuade anyone from going down that path if they feel it is right for them, and you can definitely succeed at manifesting that specific person. But don’t be surprised if you end up losing your enthusiasm for a relationship with your SP by the time you’re done with this process, because you no longer need the love that comes from this one person that you made so important.

Not everyone loses their enthusiasm for their SP, but many do.

If you get your SP back and you still want them, great. But even if you end up no longer wanting your SP, the journey still will have been worth it, because by the end of it you’ll come out with a much better self-concept, which improves your life (and love life) in myriad ways.

I offer a free online resource for manifesting your desired reality using the Law of Assumption — it’s a collection of online articles which are presented in the right order so that you can use them as a ‘how to’ guide. It’s quite a comprehensive resource and can help take you from A to B with almost any intention. You can find that here.
